2013 Am Worlds--Emporia KS ???

I have mixed feelings about playing on ball golf courses though. I hope they don't become a trend everywhere.

I agree, Much prefer disc golf courses to converted temp courses. Had a great time at Rochester last year and loved the courses with one small exception. The temp course at Genesee Valley should never have been used for for Semis on a Saturday morning. The course wasn't bad but the level of interference was extreme. The course was flooded with other events and at one point we had a three group backup waiting for the walking path along the fairway to get clear so we could safely throw. We were competing with regular park traffic and triathlon training (runners & bikers, a lot of them!) in a busy area. Sticking to established DG courses usually take things like this out of the equation.

I will definitely go to Am Worlds if it is held in Emporia. Had an awesome experience this past week/weekend. I loved the course concepts. Very challenging and really made you think before every shot. I get bored with the ace run, ace run, ace run, 500', ace run, ace run, 400', etc style of traditional DG courses. Those courses challenged every shot and obviously every player.

well now that the bid requirements are out we should know who the 2013 bidders are by the end of May, hopefully Peoria or Lemon Lake...

Pro worlds is at lemon lake and possibly including the valpo course, am worlds is in emporia.

does anyone know what courses will be played?
This will be the likely lineup. I'd suspect that the Middle School course is going to get some serious tweaking....

I beleive it is being held at Lemon Lake.
That's Pro Worlds. Read the thread title. :\

^^^^do they use all those courses for the GBO?
The GBO courses have changed over the last three years or so. Originally, the two Jones courses were played twice. Then Peter Pan was added in 2010 to accommodate another 90 players. Emporia Country Club was added in 2011 to accommodate another 90.

This year, there was an effort to try to get 500 competitors in (they got 432) so they made a change to an all tee time format. The municipal golf course was added, along with the ECC course, and the two Jones courses were combined into a super course. Players play one course each day. Peter Pan is still used for one round side events.

If they use a Middle School course for Worlds I don't want to hear any more bitching about Charlotte.

I am curious what they're going to do with that course. It certainly isn't championship caliber in its regular form, but it was use it or send people 35-40 miles to the next nearest standard length course, which is in a state park and has pay to park issues.

I do suspect that the MA1 players will not be playing there, no matter how much they dress it up.
