Etiquette and pet peeves

My peeve is when people draw obnoxious pornographic graffiti or pictures of bongs and ganja leaves on the benches and tables all over the course. My kids don't need to see that.

I have never seen that once. I did see the "can lady" at meeman shelby in Tenn picking up her loot though.

I'd never seen it before either. I've seen court appointed juvenile offenders picking up trash but never just a regular citizen trying to help. I'd like to find out more about her and get her some recognition in the paper maybe. If people read about her like that in the paper maybe they'll be more likely to do their part and clean up the parks. It might work better than my write an angry letter to the editor idea.

There's a basket here that sits about 10 feet from OB and the parking lot... there is never more than 1 or 2 cars in this huge lot and they always seem to park as close as they can to the basket.

Irks me when I see ace signatures on the baskets. No one but you gives a sh!t about your ace, and that's not your basket. If it IS your basket, then my apologies and you can sign it all you want, but I still don't care about your ace.

I've never understood why people would do that. "hey guys, this is where I like to brake the law"

My latest pet peave is due to the weather - those jonesing to play some disc golf despite course closures.

...

Just because baskets are in place doesn't mean the course is open. This is back to the volunteer thing and my personal time and effort. I'm not gonna pull 27 basekts off that hill and back in those valleys just to ensure people understand the course is closed! To me the sign on the welcome board saying "CLOSED" should suffice.

Sounds like one sign in the park that says "CLOSED" isn't getting the message across. How many disc golfers in your area are aware of your and your fellow volunteers' efforts? How many are aware how hard y'all work to repair the course every Spring? How many have you invited to help during your work days? Maybe there's a better way you can spread the awareness of your efforts, and save yourself a lot of frustration later?

Out of my experiences, very rarely do the following 2 types let you go through. 1, larger groups of high school punks and that is a 99% no. 2. Shocking enough in Minnesota it seems to be high level Am's and open level guys in groups of 5+ not letting you go through either. Kind of sad but it is what it is.

I understand during a tourney you need to mark you disc for putting and keep your feet set on putts but don't call out non tourney/casual players on it on a normal day, let them play the way they are casually so they can have fun, learn the game and as they get better and into tourney mode will learn. Had a couple guys calling a friend out on a foot fault on a 25 ft putt his first time playing the game.

For a tourney I can understand proper etiquette and believe me I have it when I play a tourney but I also have friends who are non tourney type guys who I love to just let loose with. Heck we even played with a huge armed open player from our area this last week and he was cool as can be about letting those newer players play how they want. Overall I guess I dislike guys who are too dang serious about a casual round with your friends, you don't know how serious anyone else is out there and have to have respect for them too.

I don't like people who call out others on foot faults when there is no foot fault.

That is super annoying.

at my home course if you get an ace you sign the marker on that hole...the way it's always been there....i can't believe anyone would have a prob with that....as for regular graffitti..i don't care for it...if you get an ace in ball golf, most courses add your name to a plaque....i think aces deserve praise...:p

I don't mind stoners, I think they are hilarious. But smoke elsewhere before you get to the course. I don't want to walk in your smoke. And I also dislike graffiti. Unless its an ace, or Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti. I like that.

couldn't agree more.....i had a group of ten truant teenagers on the course the other day..i saw them when i putted #3 and made sure to bang the chains...they were all burnin at the same time..i approached and they all straightened up and hid their stuff...i said you guys are fine i don't care...then blew them away with an awesome eagle...they were more excited than i was...hilarious:clap:

I think $5 a round with tee times would help keep the annoying etiquitte and lousy-acting teens away for the most part lol

I've seen people here do that, and get the aluminum cans out of the garbage cans to sell for scrap.

Good work, but there are a few spelling errors. Fix your spelling of conscientious and courteous and look for where you should use "whose" instead of "who's." There may be other places that I didn't notice, so be sure to proofread thoroughly before you spread it around the course.

yeah i typed everything quickly. I will make sure that any final draft is proofread before committing to printing or distributing.
THX for the heads up!!!

A friend and I got behind a 6 player group yesterday. they loitered around the basket after holing out, never offered to let us play thru, and worst of all, two of them emptied their bag throwing from the basket to the next teepad.

We started our game over from hole 9.
