If you had your own disc company how would you name your discs?

Simple and informatative

I would use letters for what type of disc D,M,A,P. Driver, mid rage, approach, putter. Then give numbers to relate to how they perform, so you can walk into a store, or look online and be able to tell exactly what a disc will do when you are looking for one.

I.e. 400Overstable,400stable, 400 understable
Or maybe 350 headwind, 350 tailwind 350 calm

I like the concept but distance is not going to work for people who cannot throw that necessary power. Someone who purchases a 400 is going to be disappointed when they can still only throw 250.

How about power for its name:

13 followed by OS (overstable), S (stable), or US (understable). You can add in an additional S for super when you start filling in the gaps. SOS (Super Overstable).

Graphics can then be non-descript things like predatory birds or muscle cars so a nickname can be given to them by the individual player but otherwise does not seem like it is piggybacking on the popularity of any other manufacturers if a disc just happens to be in the same power range. Plus, clean but tough looking graphics always help discs sell.

That's actually part of the point is that if you can't throw with 400' of power you shouldn't use that disc. I think if you marketed it that way you could achieve the flight you need for your power level.

Cards

Thinking about this topic more and trying to think of available ways, it would be nice if someone did their discs related to card games. Could have the suits be the plastics (hearts, spades, clubs diamonds.) Then you could use the different games in some way too. Have a Texas Hold em' line like a 2 of a kinds are putters and a Royal Flush is a long distance driver. Haven't really tried to sift through all the possibilitys for card related discs but I'm sure there is a solid way to make a correlating brand.

mids:
Sergeant, Gunny, Specialist

drivers:
Lieutenant, Major, Colonel, General (4 stars for stability)

I like that, but being in the Navy I'd go with a theme from my branch....

Master Chief (9, 3, 0, 4)

Mid-Ranges (named after watches/duties):

Has anyone had this bland of an idea? Name the discs after their flight numbers and the plastic after its price point. And then be real serious about it.

Mothra is widely regarded as the Japanese kaiju that appeals mainly to females. That being said, I can't really think of how a giant moth would translate into a disc flight...Maybe a super floaty putter like a Polecat?
