I have no idea why the links I embedded are dropping out. I'll try to restore them in the future...

...any others over 1000'? :)

Tahoe Vista #18. Short (only hole listed on this site) is 745', which is actually position B. My estimates: C is another 150' out and then D is another 200' or so past the tree line before tee pad for #1. I've heard D is somewhere around 1,100' so my estimates seem pretty close. I've played all pins and the long plays (IMO) longer than Stafford #9 at 1,049. Tahoe is kinda boring after shooting out of the trees off the pad, but both are just long open holes to have long open holes IMO. I'm guessing pineappaloupe can verify distance with his amazing maps of some of the Tahoe courses.

^^^That looks like a fun tee shot! Thanks for pointing it out.

I think Olorin's listing is definitely going to be the definitive resource from now on (at least for me!). And we agreed one I had mentioned can't be in the list yet because it's undocumented, so I'd say Tahoe Vista #18D would also have to wait until good documentation gets added to the hole length tab (something I'd always consult the course designers/ maintainers before changing).

Long holes list updated to 5/26.
Osage Grove deleted.
The 1503 ft hole 18 at Campgaw Blue/Black is the longest DGCR documented hole in current play.

Just played Tahoe Vista and hole 18, pin in D position is 1,074. My estimate was pretty darn close. Now if I can just figure out how to do a mobile upload...

In my own personal opinion (which I know is sometimes dangerous to reveal around here) that hole looks boring and pointless. Clearly it is just long for the sake of being long. Why not make it an 18,000' par 90 hole and call it a course? Save money on tees and baskets...

That picture was taken shortly after harvest. A lot of the holes there play in or along side corn fields, When fully grown in, you have to deal with a relatively narrow fairway with 10-15ft tall corn stalks on either side.

Now whether playing in a corn field is fun or not is a different subject... I can't pass judgement until I throw a disc down that fairway.

I envision many a lost discs on that hole.

Agreed: the long grass & trees will hide 'em, but it looks like they mow more of the fairway once you get down 330' to the red tees.

btw, I really like Olorin's list. You can tell in just a few seconds if your state has a 1000 footer. (Not that my arm is ever going out looking for that kind of punishment!)

Sisyphus,

Just for you I sorted the long holes list by state (then by hole length) so that at a glance you can see the longest holes in each state. I added this sort below the original list. Scroll down and you will find it. I aim to please!

. . . . and show the first ever 3 on the hole! :hfive:

2 x 800 ft drives and a 75 ft putt ?? Really :\:\ or is my sarcasism detector not working.

I can't even believe they consider this a par 5. 4x400+ drives. To bridie takes 3 x 550 drives. I just did a quick search and supposedly for golf a par 5 is between about 1400 and 2100. Are we heading towards just using regular golf courses?
