I have rated my favorite courses here based on how I rate courses based on how likely I would be to return if I had my choice to any course. Basically how much fun did I have coupled with the specifics of the course layout, design, and amenities etc. I reserve the right to like certain courses for different reasons and if I had so much fun playing a course that was not the prettiest or it lacked all the amenities, so these ratings are my personal preference and if you read my reviews you will know I prefer wooded to open courses all day. Thats enough qualifiers for the purpose of this thread, but I would really like to hear some discussion from the DGCR public about what they might disagree with either in the rating I gave a course or if you think a specific course I have listed should be below any other specific course.

Discuss freely, your opinions will not bother me if we disagree because this ranking is how I feel.

Sweet list. Impressive, and appears to be pretty well thought out.

Looks like you loved IDGC - who wouldn't?

Definitely enjoyed Magnolia DGC, but a bit surprised to see it that high on your list. Did you base that on the disc golf alone, or did Spirit of Suwannee's atmosphere help it bump further up your list than it would be had it been a stand-alone course in some nice county park? I suppose that question could be asked of all of them, but I'm particularly curious about Magnolia, because it really is such a unique setting for DG.

Almost seems like you came with me on my last trip: 9 courses, including 3 at IDGC, Magnolia, plus Flyboy. Should be able to appreciate this list more after vititing Charlotte - I see you listed more than a couple from that area.

Some conspicuous omissions make me realize just how lucky I am to live in Michigan... you gotta play some of our courses.
West: Flip (of course) but don't forget Leviathan, Mason County(Beauty, Beast, Goliath) & Whitehall
East: Independence Lake (Red Hawk), Hudson Mills, Kensington Togoggan, Addison Oaks

Don't just take my word for it, read the reviews! I don't know of anyone who made the trip and didn't enjoy themselves.

I bet if you made it to Rogers Lakewood in IN, it'd crack your top 50 - no way people can play that and not love it.

Apparently, I need to visit Tejas some day!

we share a bit of commonality. i could prob put together a decent top10 or 15.

1. the lodge-island, ok
2. the lodge-moccassin
3 water works, kc
4. beaver ranch, co
5. pease park, austin
6. highland park, joliet
7. metcenter, austin
8. griffin park white, norman ok
9.lester lorch beaver, cedar hill tx
10.lemon lake red, in
11. circle c, austin
12. winter park, co
13. lions park, norman ok
14. blackhawk, tulsa

somethin like that...

I often forget how lucky I am to have learned how to play at Lincon Ridge (Banklick), then I read reviews on here from out of town and remember how special the course really is. Played alot of the what you have listed seems like a solid group of courses. Seviren lang is actually in Indiana though.

Um, no Michigan courses yet?

ive only played 82 so i just gotta knock 2 courses off to decide my top 80

Nice list. I have played about 15 of those in my approx 120 total played. Live Oak I played running in a deluge, so I didn't include it.

I'm a guy who throws about 940 and putts about 890, and who GENERALLY likes a little more open than strictly wooded tunnel shots. I have re-arranged your courses into my order, with a few comments.

10) Circle R - Rolling Meadow (TX) (4.60)
34) Circle R - Circ Hill (TX) (4.1)
4) Renaissance (Gold layout) (NC) (4.85)
25) Crooked Creek (SC) (4.30)
7) Hornet's Nest (The Web Layout) (NC) (4.80)
58) Reedy Creek (NC) (3.85)
55) Squirrel Lake (NC) (3.85)
56) Earlewood (SC) (3.85)
60) Kilborne (Skillborne layout) (NC) (3.85)
54) Scrapyard (Idlewild Park) (NC) 3.85

- The Meadow is my *favorite* course in the world, AND probably the *best* course I've ever played. Although the Strawbale course at Houck's San Saba (RIP) was perhaps as good.
- The Hill and Renny are probably pretty close.
- I loved Chapin (Crooked Creek) and think it is underrated -- good to see it reasonably high on your list.
- I've always thought Hornet's was WAY overrated. I still think that. I'm apparently still the only guy on the planet that thinks that. Oh well.
- The rest are sort-of a tossup (and you have them all the same score), but if you said "let's go play" and they were all the same distance, I'd pick Reedy over Squirrel, Earlewood, Kilborne, and Scrapyard.

Changed significantly (allegedly) since the last time I played:
9) Circle C Metro Park @ Slaughter Creek (TX) (4.65)
Loved this course 15 years ago, but hated it pretty-much the last 3-4 times I've played it over the last 2-10 years. Has supposedly been re-done, yet again, since I was last there.

Too long since I played:
26) Kaposia (MN) (4.25) -- seemed pretty good 15 years ago
38) Patriot's Park (GA) (4.0) -- seemed fairly good 8(?) years ago

Were you too early to get RLSmith last time you were in Charlotte? It's a really fun course, while still being wooded and challenging. I think you'll like it.

I am going to be playing Seven Oaks and Cedar Hill in Nashville this weekend so excited to see it so highly praised! Only one on your list I have played is JP Mosely which was a lot of fun!

ive only played 82 so i just gotta knock 2 courses off to decide my top 80

I love the simplicity of that logic.
I suppose I could find 8 to lop off pretty easily.

But that would leave some meh courses on my top 80... completely undeserving of such acclaim.

I like your props on Winter park of course!;) But no Austin Ridge Bible Church?!? And Anna Page west is up there?.....
:D

Paying homage to a dead Brackett's bluff I see

that's high praise to put renny and hornet's nest above the idgc

:hifive:

I think I just felt like the extremeness of renny and hornets nest makes them more enjoyable test ofmy game than the IDGC courses. The IDGC courses also lack the variety and balance that renny and hornets nest have. If you put the 3 courses at IDGC together sure they would beat the other two but this is ranked per course.

Um, no Michigan courses yet?

I know I am only a 90 mile ferry ride from some of the best courses in the country . . . it's a shame I have not gotten over there to play yet.

Seviren lang is actually in Indiana though.

Oops

I got there and that will be moving up the list I am sure but as of right now it is an easy 4 but I imagine it will become a 4.5 course in short order, but there still is some work to be done before I could give it that rating . . . but that is another one I apparently forgot to add to the list.

Austin Ridge is one of those courses I rated accordingly, but apparently never put it on my list . . .now I need to go through and make sure I didn't miss any other courses I rated at 4 (actually 3.75 and above) discs or better.

Yep I just cannot get past the variety, elevation, private feel and ambiance, the rock hole basket, the creek holes, and the little touches . . . perhaps it shouldn't be #1 over Idlewild but I can see more things wrong at Idlewild than I can at Bracketts. Its a tough call and to rethink my ratings and rankings after not seeing a course for 2 years would be tough. I will rerate and rerank if/when I ever get back to any of these course. Just like I raised Winter Park up the last time I revisited it because I saw some improvements.

Do you find your list fluid? I've ranked my favorite courses but, after the Top 6, I tend to move courses up and down by 10 spots or more. They're close enough in quality, and different enough in character, that I find it hard to rank them and keep them in their spot.

Camden 1 is in illinois. If you like that course you need to get back and play its sister course camden 2. it is a wooded course andd it is nice

Never mind you put it up around 32. didnt see it on my first time through

I do try to update it as new courses come in, but some of these I have not been to in 2 years and it is hard to compare what I thought about them then, compared to what I would think about them now. Perhaps I would bump Rennya nd Hornets down a bit now because I have seen some more extreme things but when I played them they were as extreme as anything I had seen.

I also forgot to add Stoney Hill . . .

and here is my updated list with all the corrections and omissions I had:
