Need help with a scoring system

We always do total strokes but then subtract one stroke for every Shiner consumed.

Example from when we only counted 2 rounds of golf but 3 days of drinking:
Code:
Golf	Shiner	Total	Player
136	71	65	Neif
134	53	81	Bej
133	46	87	Fausch
147	58	89	Harvey
130	40	90	G
129	23	106	K
120	11	109	Clue
178	49	129	Jerms
175	34	141	JayR

A group of mine, showed up at the original Selah, San Saba; the week after Grodney's crew one year; there were empty Shiner's lined up all around the porch and even Mr. Houck had to laugh about it... :)

Mario Kart scoring is tried and true, and easy.

1st - 9 points
2nd - 6 points
3rd - 3 points
4th - 1 point
5th or lower - 0 points

If the intent is to allow the lower skill players to stay closer in the hunt, any point system needs to have the same small steps between all finish positions such as 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1, or better yet, just 4,3,2,1 where everyone finishing below 3rd gets 1 point. That will keep the race tighter.

When i first started playing. I used to do a 3 points for birdie, 2 points for par, 1 for bogie 0 for anything over bogie..

At the end of the round, you come out with a number, and you can keep track that way

Variation of Stableford scoring in golf.

I have to agree this would work, and you can even extend it:

1st - 8 points
2nd - 7 points
3rd - 6 points
4th - 5 points
5th - 4 points
6th - 3 points
7th - 2 points
8th - 1 point

it will be easy to keep track of as well

Stableford scoring is fun. Just make an adjustment on the point system. In ball golf it's something like 4 for a birdie, 2 for par, and 1 for a bogey. Birdie/bogey would result in 5 points while par/par would result in 4 points. It seems to favor the bigger hitters. Maybe try 3 points for a birdie, 2 for a par, and 0 for a bogey.

With 8 players and 8 rounds you could play doubles and have a different partner each round.

Another option is to use total strokes minus the number of beers consumed.

how in the hell does one drink 71 beers in 3 days?

Easy -- he only drank 20 the 2nd day, so that kept him from getting 75 - ha ha. He went 17, 27, 20, 24 for the trip, but the 17 was on a travel day, so we'll forgive him that. This is while playing frisbee golf the whole time, mind you.

We keep pretty meticulous spreadsheets of all the golf and Shiner, and this guy is just on another level. He's about 42 years old, a white-collar professional, isn't an alcoholic, runs 7-8 miles about 3 times a week, and is of normal stature (i.e. not fat). He used to golf in the 980 range, but now that he plays about twice a year, probably more in the 960 range.

Here's his Shiner counts for the most recent 3 years of our Spring trip:
Code:
Year	Day	Shiner

2011	Travel	24
2011	Day 1	26
2011	Day 2	32
2011	Day 3	22

2012	Travel	16
2012	Day 1	27
2012	Day 2	25
2012	Day 3	29
2012	Day 4	25

2013	Travel	5
2013	Day 1	30
2013	Day 2	21

Amazing. Any chance he's pouring them on the ground while y'all aren't looking?
