Anyone have the word on any new courses in Michigan this year? In 2010 there were about 16 new courses built in the state. So far in 2011 I haven't heard of any officially opening yet.

From what I know, Burchfield Park In Holt will be open May 14th and will be the first new course in Michigan for 2011. Here's some other possible locations i've heard rumors about-

Bay City State Rec Area - Bay City
Diggins Hill - Cadillac
Bertha Brock Park - Ionia
Ionia State Rec area - Ionia
Newaygo State Park - Newaygo (Adding a course)

Anyone got info on up and coming Michigan courses?

Diggins Hill in Cadillac is already in progress and last I heard is shooting for a Memorial Day opening.

Ionia courses are dealing with budget issues and such, there was a fundraiser for Bertha Brock last weekend. Bertha Brock has potential to be started this year, ISR next year at best.

Volunteers Sought To Help Work On Local Disc Golf Course

5/12/11 - Volunteers are being sought to help install a new disc golf course in Livingston County next weekend. The Howell Area Parks & Recreation Authority says it's on the fast track to install an 18 hole disc golf course at a park located directly behind the Marion Township Hall. The authority is looking for volunteers to help out next Saturday with installing baskets and posts for signage, painting benches and getting everything ready in general for the grand opening on June 18th. Organizers say lots of hard work is involved but at the end of the day, there will be yet another recreational activity for the community to get involved in. Volunteers are being sought between 9am and 4pm on May 21st but organizers say any amount of time is appreciated. Volunteers should bring shovels, gloves, and charged power drills. Anyone interested in volunteering is asked to RSVP through Howell Area Parks and Recreation at (517)546-0693 ext. 0. (JM)

Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary School showed their portable "frisbee disc" golf basket that is being used to introduce Lake Linden-Hubbell Elementary students to the game as a warm-up to the new disc golf course that the LLH 5th grade is developing for the Lake Linden Village Park. They are partnering with the Village of Lake Linden. C.J. Sullivan Elementary School has designed and built a nature trail at their school forest for the community and other classes to enjoy and learn from. They are partnering with the Village of L'Anse.

i live pretty close to that and might have to try and check it out. maybe a donation or something will let me get out there.
on a somewhat similar note, has anyone heard about riverbends course getting taken out?

At least one new course in the Ludington area - Scottsville. To be ready at least by Labor Day since they plan on using it for States.

Think they are looking at another course up there but from what I hear the land is so perfect they are going to take their time on it.

I didn't design the course, but I'm helping install it. With what the Township gave the desinger he did what he could with the land. It's designed to be a begginer course, not the next Diamond X. Most holes are 100-300' it has slight elevation changes, blind holes, and a water hole.

According to the Marion Township website, this is the proposed layout for the new course in Howell.

Satellite of the area from Google Maps doesn't exactly rachet up the anticipation factor for this one.

Baskets will be installed as early as this Thursday if the concrete has firmed up enough, if not this weekend. The grand opening will be on June 18th.
