I really hope this thread doesn't get canned...it needs to hang around for future DGCR generations to find.

Or if a mod could just ban or delete me that would be awesome.

Imagine feeling like you have the right to limit a discussion because you do not agree with one side of the discussion. Literally going against the biggest thing our founders were afraid of. Limit of free speech. Your feelings are no more relevant than anyone else's. I have not seen a single derogatory statement made on this forum and yet every discussion is deleted. Have fun talking to the same 10 people. This place is a joke. Profile DELETED.
So... why didn't they extend free speech protections to prevent private business influence over speech? The concept of private interests influencing speech was not foreign to the founding fathers of the United States. As a matter of fact Benjamin Franklin spread propaganda via the press by passing fake news articles to influential people and Thomas Jefferson built his own propaganda machine. And yet when the all-too-aware founders of the United States built their Constitution they chose not to entrench a constitutional freedom of speech that extended to freedom from suppression by private businesses.

While there are plenty of things the founding fathers could not have predicted - they were absolutely aware of the potential for suppression of speech by private interests. We're not talking about some idea that would have seemed a bit "newfangled" for them (like the un-manufacturable at the time, due to cost, Belton Flintlock - which would have likely influenced 2A had it been developed 100 years earlier).

They chose not to restrict the potential of private interests because they regarded the purpose of the Constitution as a device to keep government specifically out of the restriction of the "natural rights." The constitution wasn't written to protect your freedom of speech from DGCR or Reddit. It was meant only to protect your freedom of speech from government.
