Wellsbranch250's Backyard Course In Development.

some big news over the weekend.

On Friday afternoon - my first visitor from Minnesota and my first +1000 bagger played a round here. elmexdela

On Saturday - edfaits and I did some course work, and finally opened holes 4 and 5. Which means there are now 18 playable holes, when I take one group. There is still a lot work needed, so the new holes are still closed if I am hosting multiple groups.

On Sunday - my friend Rob and I played holes 4 and 5 for the first time and made some new benches. we did not play a full round though. First full 18 round will likely be in the next couple weeks

for a quick drive by review

i really enjoyed v rock

best/memorable holes was of course the signature "v rock" and also i really liked "the wall"

purists may complain about the natural teepads or the paths to walk on but for a backyard beauty course i can easily over look that

thanks again wellsbranch250

(i would recommend this course to others)

Looks like you have done a ton of work since my visit! Need to come back that way and check the champagnes.

I am on track to have the 18 hole layout back open in early August. Not a ton of upgrades in the last couple of months as i had a huge oak uproot in front of my house that i spent 50 hours on trying to clean. trimming fairways to get the course ready is also eating up a lot of time.

Upgrades since the last update
I re-numbered the course 1 thru 18. no more 1a, 1b 1c confusion.
bought a Discatcher and a MachIII (sold 2 lesser baskets)
installed pole hole sleeves on hole 3 (old 1C) and on 8 (old 5)
upgraded tee surface to compacted gravel on Red 18 (old 15) Red 17 (old 14) and Green 16 (old 13)
new pin placements and green construction hole 4 (old 2)
added 15 tree stump chairs and two 6-foot wood benches.
lots of pathway construction and one bridge upgraded.

Well, for some reason I had never read this thread before.

GREAT work, it was cool to see the progression over the last 4 years.

you know it will be a high priority if I ever get out that way.

My, I have property in Tennessee, about an hour outside of Nashville. I have two baskets already and always keeping an eye out for more. I hope to retire there and build a championship level course. (got 700 acres, mostly wooded with valley's and large hills) that

I have another more extrema area I have not walked yet I may use instead. I want to build a house on that piece of property across the road from the course. That area is 100+ acres of extreme hills and valley's (My family owns over 1000 acres in the area)

I've never read this thread either.

I want to revive an idea for a disc golf "graveyard" starting with my old broken down basket from Morgan's Raid Country Club. The dead zone between 14's basket and 15's tee may be perfect. I'd like to place something in the basket to plant blackberry vines. Then let mother nature consume that basket.

What do you think wellsbranch?

In the next year or so, i plan to develop that area into another placement for hole 14. Not sure if you saw or not on Saturday, the morgan raider's basket is currently at 17's par 4 placement. My wife's step brother has a portable arc welder, and i'd honestly like to repair it to keep it out of the grave. perhaps add a historical sign, with the legend of the morgan raiders

After the Morgan's Raiders robbed the Versailles, IN court house and stayed overnight in that old barn at Morgan's Raid Country Club, they stole the horses from the priest at New Alsace, IN. That priest was my ancestor's older brother.

Although all 18 fairways are roughed in, im still adding placements and a couple fairway extensions. This past week I added placement B on hole 7. Although only 218 feet from red and 270 from white, its well uphill and needs around 300 and 375 foot power to reach the basket.

The OG got in a LEGENDS round at V-Rock on Sunday, which included DGCR's EdFaits. First round of the season. Course construction has passed its 5th full year. Although, now it's more maintain/upgrade rather than new fairway construction. Up to 50 basket placements and 46 tees. 26 of the tees have a seat capacity of at least 4.

I posted this on the course facebook page as well. This is V-rock red tee earlier today. Got about an inch of ice. 742 plays on this hole. 2 aces, 224 Birdies, 386 pars, 108 bogeys, 18 doubles, 4 triples. 2.9 scoring average.

Glad to see you survived the blizzard. I'm not sure the suburbanites in my old subdivision did (I'm still a member of their facebook group).

Much appreciation and thank you to Mr. Butlertron and Wife for sponsoring a hole here with a Discathcer basket donation. Temporarily on hole 11. (Air Fort Montague) sign coming soon
