[Innova] All Things FIREBIRD

anyone cycle firebirds to cover most fairway/distance shots similar to Philo? I'm curious to see if a beat in firebird would somewhat resemble a thunderbird....or roadrunner once beat to trash.

I bag four firebirds, in order of stability, 12x, '17 Geisinger, '18 Sexton, '16 Halloween (beat to absolute hell).

My '16 Halloween was run over and hit by a riding lawnmower, split the wing along the parting line. I was able to melt parts hanging on back together. The disc flies 9/3/0/1 now and holds whatever line you give it, straightening out just enough to not skip. I don't know if you'll find a more beat up firebird than that one. Maybe a DX one.

Gotta respect the love for a disc that you'd do all that plastic surgery (see what I did there?) to save the disc...

I have a super beat Champ Firebird that I bought from someone on here.

ODRB I think.

Anyway it was a little bit beat when I got it, small dome, 160 something gram.

Couple years later and it doesn't flip, but I can throw it straight, or on a really hard anny and not have it pan out.

Goes really far on tomahawks too.

Super fun disc, but I am afraid to lose it as it would take forever to replace.

I do that. I have 2 star firebirds in the bag and one has the typical thunderbird flight- straight with a tiny fade at 350, the other is just there to break in to fly like the straight one. I don't suggest trying to break in a firebird to fly like that, just get a thunderbird instead it is way easier. maybe in 4 more years on that firebird it will be roadrunner-like. It will probably leave the bag once it starts turning though.

I have one super beat older pearly champ that will flip to flat and go straight for a long time then fade. But I never use it because I never need that shot.

Do firebirds turn? Ever? IDK as I am an FD3 thrower. But I like firebirds.

Anyone thrown the new-ish color glow firebirds? Are they like a true firebird or more like a Sexybird/Doombird? (For me, the Sexybirds and Doombirds are just about the same.)

Ever? Yes, unless it's DX it will take a really long time though. I have two PFN Star and both are second hand. One suggests turn, the other still no. And I'm owner 3-4.

I never really knew they would. The design of them (nose/wing config?) Seems to keep them stable. Like a TH or a Thundy. That notch at the nose/wing seems to make them very hard to become a disc that turns naturally, not to say you couldn't put some turn on one.

Yeah you can force one over for sure, but they don't want to turn. If you have thrown one enough that the notch is worn and caught enough tree hits, I've seen them have some turn, but we aren't talking Roadrunner here. More like an Eagle X at that point.

I've beat a Star Firebird in enough to get some turn on it. Not a lot of turn, mind you, just a little. It took 2 or 3 years in the bag though. I can't imagine how long it would take to beat any turn into a Champ Firebird. I guess if you regularly played gravel courses or courses that included skip shots off asphalt, that would probably speed the process up. Or if you were primarily an overhand thrower; I've known a few guys who threw primarily Thumbers/Tomahawks on holes under 300 feet.

Lol yes, any disc will turn thrown fast enough. But yes I currently have firebirds that turn with enough power. And they are star and champion, not dx

Not saying I'm completely doubting you, but I would need to see a video of you throwing this and a photo of the discs, to completely believe it. You could be Wiggins and I'd still have to see it to believe it.

I'm sure firebirds can turn over. But I'm consistent over 400' with Thunderbirds and I can't get a Champ Firebird that was hit by a riding mower to flip over yet.

Not completely doubting, I would have to see the discs and them being thrown. Otherwise, very impressive.

sure will do next time I play

I had a DX one that throws like a Valk gave it to more noodle armed friend to try and he lost it.

I had this idea that if I got the OS disc I like in every slot in different plastic I could cut down to 4 molds. Didn't really work, Giant and Firebird kind of did, but putting with a Harp was not perfect and the Origio Bards start so much more OS that you have to play with them a full season to get much turn.

Kind of wonder if I should go try to find some new DX that are OS for the rainy season or if my g* is good enough.

Anyone thrown the new flat pearly engraved Firebirds that have come out recently? If so, how do they compare to the 2011/2012 FAF run?

I'm still interested in seeing that video of the guy claiming to turn over a champ Firebird. Not even my 5/10 11x FBs have any shred of turn in them.

I can see star and obviously DX doing that, but not champ. I have a 161 star that flips up to flat and will turn into a headwind if thrown hard, but I have never seen a champ do that.

The only FB I've thrown lately that had any turn was a '18 Nate Sexton glow. It actually would bend right just a tiny bit on hard rips.

I've since thrown a few other random champions and a glow champion. None of those showed the slightest inclination to turn. In fact, they pretty much went left the whole time. I can also go 400'ish with a Thunderbird.

FBs are WAAAAYYYYY beefier than any Thunderbird I've thrown.

Haven't played with Tyler in awhile but he throws hard and correctly.

I've bought a handful of the new flat ones, and they are great. I have no reason to want any, I told myself I was happy with the dozen or so FAFs from 2012, as they will never wear out. As long as I'm careful, I couldn't possibly go though them. But the new ones are dope too, they have the same flight, while being easier on the hand. Maybe not quite as good for forehand rollers, but that was a pretty high bar.

I'm a noodle arm (~330' max), and I've actually flipped over a Firebird. Granted, it was a 151g DX that had previously had a nasty run-in with a parking lot, but it actually flipped. The plastic on that thing was as soft as candle wax.
