[MVP] MVP Tangent

Yeah it holds the hyzer and doesn't flip up and go straight, or with just a touch of hyzer it will do the slow gradual turn and end up way right of my target. I guess it just need more practice to dial it in, but for some reason I was expecting it to go dead straigh if thrown level or maybe just a touch of hyzer? My fuse doesn't seem near as touchy as the tangent.

How are you guys throwing it to get the super straight shots? flat, touch of hyzer?

I've had good luck throwing it straight with as best as I can tell a flat release. I had my best drive ever on this hole the other day. I've never had another disc go that straight for that long. The hole's 286' and dead straight. My drive ended up about 15' out, a little short, and a little left. Any time I've tried to throw a putter, I torque it to the right, or end up short. Any other mid always ends up fading a bit to much to the left, and drivers end up fading more and skipping off the sidewalk or something.

Hole #2 at Sugaw Creek

Thrown flat, with next to no left to right throughout the flight.

hmmm nice shot bikinijack!

I'm wondering if weight is something to consider also? Mine is 173g maybe a bit heavier would keep it more straight for me (if thrown correctly)?

Picture this:

Hole#1 Caroll Marty Disc Golf Course, Ames IA. 200ft hole with tee pad elavated probably 100ft higher than the pin, maybe more. You shoot downhill with the pin on the right. Perfect hole for the Tangent...if you can turn it.

Aimed down, threw it hard, and got a nice "subtle" turn as most have described. First birdie of the year.

When I got down to the pin a friend of mine says to me, "how did that not go in..". I've got a real good feeling about the tangent and this year of dg.

Nice shot there. I have seen people throw annies, but that is a forehand hole definitely. I would also say it is closer to 40 or 60 foot drop and a bit further than 300 feet.

Been throwing Tangent lately at MMS (Austin) and it is awesome disc, taken most of shots I normally would throw Fuse/Axis/Anode with. Easy to control and holds any line I put in. Thanks MVP!

Finally got my Tangent in when I got home from baseball practice. It had been setting in the single digits for several hrs. It was so cold it was warped. Set it on the coffee table for a couple hrs and it flattened out nicely. Too bad we got 5 more inches of snow yesterday. But good news the breakup/thaw is only 4-6 weeks away :/

Initial thoughts....mine is nice and flat and sits in the hand very well. (kinda feels like a shallower wider diamater ion or anode).

Looks like we may get a couple days above freezing this weekend....hope to get out and get thow it around for a bit.

My tangents came warped, i put some water in a huge pan and let it get real hot, not boiling. then i took it off the burner and let the discs sit in the hot water for 5 min each, then took them out, sat them on a flat level surface to cool off and they were back to normal form, nice and flat.

I love the tangent for straight or anhyzer shots, nothing has ever been easier to control or place shots than this disc.. just amazing. Very happy with my tangents.

WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE finally got mine. 18days to my small island, mail shows up at 11:45am Ha. I got one a little warped too, put it on the fridge with a large hardcover, dome came out in a couple hours. Everything is true the hype is worthy if the disc. Played a short round on my personal course and they are unbelievable. Once they flatten out they drop straight even blown shots were 25' from the pin.

I usually bring in an order of 30 MVP discs before our May Pender Bender Tourney but I'm almost tempted to keep the secret to myself.:)

Since the sunset is about 9pm, I was able to get out after baseball practice and throw mine around for about 30 mins. It finally warmed up out of the single digits, so it was a nice day to throw.

This is a fun disc to throw. Not as understable as some initially thought. Long straight lines with a small fade at the end. I didnt have great footing to try a hyzer flip, but my flat throws and anny throws were very easy lines to achieve.

If you like thorwing/collecting mids, this is a very fun and easy disc to thorw. Get one.

I'm with Ty Ty on the stability, I'm not getting great luck with short distance annys, especially with a low ceiling, they hold the turn but hit the dirt too soon. Maybe in a year. It's like the glide doesn't kick in for 100' and mostly when the nose comes up. I still really dig it but the Tangents not kicking anything out of the bag. Ion and Axis do a nice turnover shot while the Tangent flies super straight, killer upshots. I really wanna bang aces with it in doubles today...

Under 100' you'll almost definitely be better off with a putter but sounds like you already know that.

Finally got temps in the upper 30s, so I took out my mvp bag out to the open parking lot again. Just fyi the footing was an issue so I was throwing with all arm. I had to concentrate on spinning the discs which actually was a good thing.
At low arm speeds with a strong snap I was getting long straight shots with sone initial fade to the right before a samll fade/settling to the ground. When comparing distances of mvps mids, I was getting the tangent out past 250. The vector was 10 ft farther, and the axis was 10 ft past the vector. I was putting them in a nice lil halo.

For me the tangent will be fill the role of approaces that I normally had to power up my putter to reach. The easy distance and line shaping should help many stick close approaces and nail more long eagles.

little pet peeve, turn right... not fade right, unless youre flicking

I wanted to use turn but it is was slow and subtle, that fade was the best way to describe it.

Most discs that I "turn" the wing dips/angles to that direction. My tangent was perfectly level and only "faded off line" to the right just a touch. It could have also been the 5mph head winds.

I know fade and turn are diffrent, and how it can be misleading if used improperly. ( especially for noobs )

I use the term track right in situations like that.

*tries to think of Tangent related question*

Any FH's out there enjoying the Tangent from that POV?

Yup it's become my go to for short step out anhyzer's where I would normally use a putter or maybe an axis.

Tested out some more finesse straight shots today and it works great for these but I don't see that many people who like to or can throw nuetral discs on straight forhands. It's certainly not my go to when pressure is on (zone hyzer FH is) but makes for great practice.

Doesn't really add to the conversation, but had an interesting Tangent shot on Friday. Short hole, around 190 feet give or take 10 feet either way. Serious right dogleg with tone of foilage to the right. Teepad is a weird angle that points almost away from the Fairway. Anyway, I normally throw a Tommy over the trees, but I'm not getting any younger and it starts to hurt the shoulder after awhile...its short enough that most of my annys sail past the pin or turn into rollers...that roll past the basket.

So I figured I could use the Tangent with no run up and more wrist angle and less shoulder. I got it off clean, but my body angle was a bit off, and I hit a tree branch hanging out over the edge of the Fairway. Instead of dying, the Tangent actually ramped ups the branch and cruised right toward the basket. It tickled chains but was pretty far left and really had no chance of sinking in. It was an easy (lucky) birdie though!

Threw the Tangent on a few holes Friday afternoon.
I can definitely see the uses as an approach disc.
I'll hold off final judgement till it gets beat in, but in the bag for now...

I've had good luck using mine for fh approach. The rim is comfortable for a fh grip and using a little wrist flick is all it needs to get moving.

One of my favorite shots with the ion is a high anny that turns right for a bit and then the stability helps it to pan back out and fade after a long right turn (rhbh).

Stepped up to a hole like this yesterday and threw the tangent. Almost the same exact flight as my ion but 25 feet longer same type of throw. This disc is great fun, and will be a useful disc from approaches to Annie's to straight etc. I was thinking the axis was in trouble, but it's not I can put way more stank on the axis than the tangent.
