[Vibram] Vibram Disc Golf Thread (Part II)

I decided to giver vibrant another try. I've always wanted to love my vibrams. I have an unthrowable for me flippy ascent, and a trak that I've never meshed with... It is awesome for short thumbers tho so it's in my bag.

So for my birthday I had my mom get me a lace. Got it from Justin at communitydiscs. He is the best by the way. I have a nice 169 blue and red lace. First thing I did was give it a nice scrub to get it grippy. Then out to the field to throw it with my other digtance drivers.

I mainly throw archons for stable and understable, then a champ destroyer for my overstable needs. I throw my archons about 375 on golf lines. I don't use my destroyer much so I initially was hoping my lace would replace it. I don't have a huge arm and don't have to throw into headwinds much so I figured the lace would be stable enough for what I need.

I just love this disc. I instantly felt confident with it. With a flat release, throwing all out, it stays straight, turns a little and has the fade I want at the end. I put back to back throws past my basket set up at 400 feet today. I'm just so happy with it.

With all that said... Can anybody compare the unLace to an archon? I like to throw the same molds if possible most of the time and I could see the unLace possibly replacing my archons.

Ace slump of over 8 years busted today. Defended my clubs #1 tag and ended the round with an ace using a medium summit. Was pretty much locked in straight out the hand, took a nice tight hyzerflip line.

I let a friend throw my UnLace today. He is a fairly good player but not much power and he was able to hyzer flip roller the disc with only a slight headwind. I have never thrown an Archon but I would have to say it will be less stable than an Archon. I have heard some compare it to a Mamba, but I am not sure I quite believe that. It is an understable max distance driver. And it is amazing when you want to throw anhyzer lines.

Gotta love the Medium Summit. I got an ace with one of mine earlier this year. Nice shooting.

So does anyone know if the O-Lace that will be released as the regular run will be the first retooling? Or are they retooling the disc a 2nd time for regular release because the first was too close to the Lace?

The initial 420 was too overstable. After retooling, we felt it was too close to the Lace (just a touch more overstable than the Lace). The released version will be between these two.

Cool! I just lost my last Surge, and the new O-Lace sounds like it will nicely fill that gap next to my Laces. And my Wasp just lost a chunk out of the rim, so I'm about ready to replace it with an Obex. Then a VP to replace my Sinus probably next spring. More Vibram slips comfortably into the bag.

Keep up the good work, Mr. Dodge!

BTW, what's a good replacement for the SSS Magic: Ridge, Sole or Summit?

I finally got to throw my unlace today. I was very pleased how it flew. parked several holes with it. it's the perfect complement to my lace. I am becoming a huge fan of vibram. I have a trak as well and it is very consistent. like someone said in another post they just feel good in my hand. I just haven't decided if I like firms or mediums yet. I putt with voodoos right now but can't wait to give vibram putters a try.

Gotcha! Thank you, Steve. Just ordered up 2 unLaces from Gotta Go Gotta Throw. Looking forward to trying them!

I posted in the Unlace thread, but I will post here as well. I've thrown 3 rounds now with a 166 medium Unlace. I never thought i could turn and burn a speed 13 disc, but i can do this with an Unlace. When I have hit it just right however, it's been record distance for me, and straight as an arrow. Oddly, most of the holes on my regular 9 hole par 3 are too short to throw it, so I only throw it on the couple of longer holes, and so haven't really nailed it down.

Still, this is the closest thing to the magic bullet I've found.

So what I find particularly exciting about the release of the unLace and O-Lace (hopefully this year still) is that Vibram now has the middle-of-the-road discs fulled out in all 4 grids in their lineup. Which means...the only discs left are the poles! That is - understable and massively overstable for mids and fwy. I'm sure the next disc they will release will be the massively overstable DD which was the 420 but then after that is what I just mentioned in mids and fwy. That is a pretty cool accomplishment.

Soooo...are these rumored glow Vibrams a real thing? If so, are they something we'll see anytime soon? Perhaps when the softs go out? Anyone know anything?

Just wanted to post here and say I was exceptionally surprised at the feel of the 420b proto I bought from a member on here. I expected it to feel something like a rampage but it definitely doesn't at all...much more shallow rim depth. I'm kind of sad I'm not going to get to keep it (I bought it for a friend), it feels really natural in the hand.

I'm testing out an Unlace this weekend. Anything in particular I should try with it?

With how far you throw, it will be really flippy for you... So I'd be interested in seeing you lay down some rollers. But you also have very clean form, so I'd love seeing what your cannon arm could make the UnLace do on some hyzer flip to turnover distance lines.
