So you played 200+ courses, but...

I need to write more reviews...

Exactly!

Martin has more FAVORITE courses than I have TOTAL COURSES PLAYED! Should his reviews count more than mine even though I've been playing twice as long? I mean, sure, I actually think they should to some degree because he's living the dream, but you see what I mean.

Martin, you need to finish your other 1,056 reviews.:popcorn::popcorn:

I never knew that map feature existed - so thanks for sharing.
you're welcome
I do, however, think that good, well written reviews have a lot more say on where I will play. Unlike something like this
I never claimed to write great reviews. In most cases, many people have written quality reviews before I got there, so why reiterate the same info?

Is there a way to pull up on DGCR all the members who have listed that they've played 200+ courses?

you have to search the member list, then sort by courses played.

If you're doubting the opinion of somebody that's played more than 300 courses, then you're probably a jackass, and just trying to act smarter than you really are.

I've played nearly 100 courses in 10 states...so by your assessment, I don't know what I'm talking about. I'd beg to differ.

It's definitely an interesting concept. I've never thought of looking at that. I don't think that I would trust a reviewer any less solely based upon them having a limited course territory, though. I might start looking at maps for fun, though.

I definitely look at pictures and mostly trusted reviewer reviews when selecting courses to play. Although proximity to my route and destination probably play the biggest role, sadly.

Using your territory concept, I've never played a big Colorado mountain type course. I've played a desert course, but it was on a man-made desert are, and not really a natural desert/wilderness course.

Otherwise, I've played 78 courses. That's not a huge number, by any means. But I have gotten to play a pretty wide variety of courses with a couple obvious exceptions noted above. So I feel that I have a pretty fair concept of courses to be able to give a useful, objective opinion.

Now, pros would have to adjust their expectations of a course based upon the limitations of my game. For example, I try to always mention by consistent driving distance as a point of reference. But a thumber/tomahawk or forehand player could definitely look at a course differently than I do based upon the limitations of my game.

But that's kind of the point of having multiple reviews. Different perspectives definitely prove useful.

gotta love dgcr. people take a simple statement, blow it out of proportion, make it personal, then lash out.

Something I don't think has been brought up yet is that while dgcr is great data it doesn't have every course ever listed, like lots of privates (which tend to be really good courses, especially if they're uber private). Plus lazy or forgetful people may not even log their data in.

I would only let someone's regionality color my opinion if they were restricted to the Chicago hellhole of 9 holers or some similar swath of really abundant but mediocre courses.

Side question --- Is there a way to pull up on DGCR all the members who have listed that they've played 200+ courses?

you have to search the member list, then sort by courses played.

Below are the number of players listed at the levels over 200 courses here on DGCR:

Diamond level(1000+ courses played): 5
Gold level(500+): 15
Silver level(200+): 110
Bronze level(50+): 2,301

Between those, the Trusted Reviewers(minimum 10 Reviews, 100 Helpful Votes, 20 Unique Voters) are 2 in Diamond, 7 in Gold, 36 in silver.

I guess my thinking is, as somebody who's played in ten states...there are the same few factors that affect disc golf. Altitude (which I have not dealt with much), water, foliage (including trees) and wind. If you've played even 50 courses, you've dealt with nearly all of those. In which case, your opinion is completely valid. It doesn't matter if you see water or trees in Maine, Florida, Wisconsin, or Hawaii...a tree is a tree. Discounting somebody's opinion because of where they've seen variation is asinine.

I'm pretty sure none of my reviews are well liked, since i write a minimal amount and really just want to assign a disc rating

Probably b/c you are always looking down on people from Lower Black Eddy. :|

Interesting thread. I've not played 200 yet,but here's my map. What's it worth?
