Is this a cool picture or offensive?

Well there's already enough controversy over the picture, the flag, and who was or wasn't there,(and maybe because it happened 60+years ago) I'd say awesome pic.

Being a Veteran, I'm cool with it.

There has to be at least one SJW on DGCR that will be offended. They're all over the internet.

Me? Not offended even a little.

Maybe if the flag was more visible. At first it seems like someone just photoshopped a basket in place of the flag.
But personally while I'm not offended I don't think it helps disc golf in any form.

One of the men in the photo is my friend's relative. John Bradley was apparently one of the flag raisers and his son, James, wrote Flags of our Fathers. I believe it was his mom's uncle or maybe even her dad.

Anyway, I've played many rounds with my friend and he at least used to be a pretty decent player. So there's that.

At least the guy in the back has something to do now. Before he looked like he really wanted to help but just couldn't reach.

But from a former USMC Sgt, not offensive. I don't offend easily though.

Where is the Grow the Game caption?

From the Small World Dept, one of the fellows who originally planted the flag was a neighbor when I was growing up. No picture, so someone ordered a second flag-raising. One Pulitzer later, everyone knows the scene.

I'm not offended, but some people probably would be. But they won't likely see the pic, so no harm, no foul.

Not offended but, not particularly cool either.

Just another disc golf touch up novelty pic.

The original picture has become a symbol of victory after a hard fought battle that costs lives.
Nothing in disc golf is that serious or even close.

Not offended but also not sure what message this is trying to get across, if any.

I used that super clever mashup for a stamp once. Later decided it was stupid and denied someone reusing it for a different event. Yeah the club put new baskets in, yeah it took a few years of struggle, yeah carrying one up the hill on hole 8 must've been rough, but nobody died. There's a lot behind the photo and turning the thing on a stick into a different thing on a stick doesn't show due respect to the original image.

It's not immediately offensive but it is lazy and stupid, artistically. It's like a visual pun. So, neither. Not offensive but not awesome.

It would not be hard to see how some might be offended, given many of the reasons already stated. And I would have to respect someone's right to be offended and would not disparage them for being offended.
Having served myself, I am not offended, but I wouldn't display the photo.
Dismissed.

It's too bad more people don't have this attitude when dealing with possibly offensive issues. We would probably have more productive discussions, as opposed to the guys that immediately start bitchhing about too much PC in the world today.

I am a former Marine and don't find this offensive.

MB!! Good to see you :-D I thought you were gone forever.

I like the pic, I think it's cool, not cool enough that I would want it as my computer background or hanging on my wall or something, but I like it.
