Anyone else sick of noob bashing!

I gotta agree here.....I was placed in a masters and grandmasters group and the short game was awe inspiring to me
These guys were really cool and I had a very relaxed round despite the fact that I felt as if I was quite noobish in their presence...they understood what disc golf was all about

Over the years I have introduced countless people to the sport, and seen many of them exceed my skill level. I can't ever remember harassing, belittling or treating any new player with anything other than a helpfull attitude. What does irk me is when someone with .5 years playing time gets on here and tries to tell us whats best for our sport. Live it for awhile first! And if noobs get a little good natured hazing, so what? If you don't have at least somewhat thick skin, don't hang out in internet chat rooms.

I dont consider myself a noob...I just suck
I'm growing tired of the threads belittling newcomers to the game and am sick of people being rude or standoffish to new players in my region

It seems to be about as popular as the buzzz and discing down threads....I don't really get it. I'm pretty sure we were all noobs. I think what used to be the draw of the sport...fun and good people...is people jeopardized. I see it on the courses and online. Anyone else sick of noob bashing?

i look at it this way:

there's two types of noobs: the clueless and the idiots

the clueless will eventually learn the ways of the sport, buy slower discs, play in a league, and learn appropriately. (usually by running into one of experienced folk and being willing to listen)

the idiots will buy the newest super-duper high speed whatchamacallit, profess their superiority accordingly, and be content with mediocrity, even though one of us eventually comes along and out-drives them with a putter.

without a little bit of questioning, you can't really figure out if your guy was a #1 or #2.

There is no excuse to be rude to new players. They need to be shown the light. I have played masters for years, so I understand where your coming from with that. On here though people are gonna let off steam and sometimes point out flaws in noobs behavior. But yeah, helping would be better than bashing!

Oh yeah, I hate spelling nazis too! Sorry, I'm not really down with you kids new terminology!

I have never experienced noob bashing. If you get it on the internet, suck it up. we were all there at one point.

as for non internet noob bashing, those are usually the people who you want to avoid anyway

The only place I see noob bashing is on this site. And yeah, I'm kinda getting tired of it myself. Someone posted earlier that its the internet, not to take this site seriuosly. Well, sometimes when I make a thread asking questions about form, disc selection, etc., only to get haggled for being noobish and not already knowing the answer, it rubs me the wrong way because I'm looking for serious responses. Just because we are on an internet forum doesn't mean that some of you guys have to be db's. You can still be helpful to promote the growth of our sport by offering insightful answers. That is unless of course, you don't know the answers yourself. In that case, just keep the sarcasm to yourself and don't even reply.

Come on man, a little sarcasm won't kill ya. hopefully you get answers to your questions first though!
