So me and 3 of my friends where playing a round at Northside park in Sartell, MN on Friday evening. We were moving at a decent pace but we had a pair of players behind us. I did think about letting them play through but on some holes they where well behind us and others they where waiting. We probably should have stopped to let them play through but I didn't think we where holding them up that much.
So we get to hole 11. its 197 ft non blind hole. You can see the pin from the tee pad. I'm one of 4 guys putting out on the hole. And I'm not proud of it but 3 of the 4 of us are not the kind of guys that are easy to miss behind trees because well, we are on the heavier side.
While I'm putting a disc misses my friends head by inches and skips in for an ace. there is no fore called. At least no one of our group of 4 heard them say anything. We all hear and see them celebrating on the tee for the ace that almost clipped another player in the head while 3 other players besides the one they almost hit where within 10 feet of the pin. I'm pissed myself but not wanting to be "that guy" I leave there disc in the basket and along with my 3 friends just walk to the next tee where we wait for the pair that just aced to play through since we didn't want to risk a disc to the head.
They didn't even acknowledge they almost hit one of us. They said nothing other than a casual "thanks" when we let them play through. At that point I really wish I had taken the ace disc and chucked it deep into the brush/woods.
I will freely admit we could have let them play through earlier(it was one of those 50/50 spots, some holes they were waiting others they were nowhere in sight), but am I wrong to be pissed that they didn't even acknowledge they almost hit my friend in the head with a disc that ended up being an ace?
