If I understand the question, my current total of 337 courses played only takes me 135 miles from home.

There are a few courses within an hour's drive that I have not played. Most are long and wide open or otherwise do not sound fun. Truth be told I do not particularly care whether I ever play those courses.

Guess I should turn in my sorta-bagger card.

What I've noticed is a lot of private object courses opening up in the past year mostly around Richmond, including one guy using crates as targets. I'm one and done with object courses.

Is there a link to the event on the 11th? I looked on the Maymont calendar and saw nothing listed for a Disc Golf event. Reading your review and looking at the dates of a few scores posted, it looks like the course can be played during the winter months?

The elevation does catch my interest, the 11th doesn't work for me, but I would mind playing the course later.

I actually think @brentjacobs would give you a run for your money. He's at around 600 courses, but lives in Montana, which isn't exactly known for its plethora of courses.

Yeah, I actually thought after I posted that I bet some really rural person could probably beat it just by sheer lack of courses.

Just did the zip search and it brought up 221 courses within 404 miles. Tough to extrapolate out to the 591 I have marked played here. But yeah, from a course concentration standpoint, I live in BFE. At this point, it's either a plane ticket or 15+ hour round trip drives to get any decently aggressive bagging done.

No doubt that in terms of sheer course density, its simply easier for people in the east to rack up big #'s than those in the west.

Sure, there are concentrations of courses around metro areas in western states. But those metro areas are typically much more spread out than they are east of the Mississippi.

Less time travelling translates to more courses played.

If you search Maymont Open on Facebook there is a group. Don't think they have anything outside of facebook. It is an object course so it could be played anytime if you are careful and respect the other park guests. I think I uploaded the map on here so it will get you in the right areas.

Maymont is a gorgeous property and has one of the largest collections of tree species anywhere. Definitely worth playing if you can tolerate object golf (I vacillate on that). I would avoid trying to play the course on weekends or during extremely nice weather.

Was hoping to hit 250 but I feel like this isn't bad. I also got another 100+ Illinois courses this year as well. Perhaps next year I will close out on Wisconsin even though I'm sure there's gonna be new 2023 courses popping up all over making my goal a lot harder. Wish me luck.

Bagging courses has been pretty much my thing I do on my 2 days off a week I get for the past year. I usually pick an area and try to bag as many as I can before the sun goes down which tends to be anywhere from 5-9 courses if the area has a lot of them.

What makes things tough is when you start running out of new courses within a 2-3 hour radius during the winter months when the sun goes down before 5. There's trips I have planned out where I want to bag 7+ courses but the problem is 3-4 of them might be 30-45 minutes apart which requires me to play some of them as fast as I can.

I think this year I'm gonna take January through March off in terms of playing new courses and just practice on putting. since I am pretty awful at it. I played every month during winter last year and tried to play mostly low-rated courses that would be a waste of time during nicer months but honestly didn't have a whole lot of fun.

Was hoping to hit 250 but I feel like this isn't bad. I also got another 100+ Illinois courses this year as well. Perhaps next year I will close out on Wisconsin even though I'm sure there's gonna be new 2023 courses popping up all over making my goal a lot harder. Wish me luck.

As one of the top WI course baggers all I can say is...

Stellar work!!! People can post random nonesense on the internet. Easily. People can back things up with courses added, course pics, hole info, reviews, course updates, etc. Deano did all of these things. I've played numerous courses he's added this past year. Truly impressive work. :clap::clap::clap:

Appreciate the kind words my friend. Don't be too impressed because only reason why I am able to do this right now is because I have pretty much no life and am single.

Those two factors make course bagging pretty damn easy.. and having a semi-working car too I suppose. My poor baby has been through a lot the past few years and even though I've been keeping up with the maintenance, I have over 200k miles on a 2012 car which I don't think is very good considering I put all those miles on there myself lol. I'm debating on whether I should look into getting a new car or just keep driving it till it stops working. It IS a Japanese-built Honda so as long as I keep up with the oil changes and what have you, it should theoretically last forever.

What makes things tough is when you start running out of new courses within a 2-3 hour radius during the winter months when the sun goes down before 5.

Living on the eastern side of NJ, my bagging through PA has reached a bit west of Harrisburg, through MD to Baltimore, and up to Hartford in CT - pretty much 3 hour drives in any direction. After October, its lots of driving in the dark.

This year, I've resolved to replay more courses and update my reviews. But I still hear the siren song of those new ones out there!

I'm impressed with everything about that post, but the fact that you had one of your most productive bagging months in March is nuts. Depending on latitude, that's either winter golf or the start of sloppy season. That's usually when I hibernate from dg. True dedication to bag so many in what was probably fairly rough conditions.

I hear you about changing priorities for 2023, but I'm still damn impressed.

I feel pretty good with bagging 67 in 2022. I agree it gets harder as you're unbagged courses get farther out. Had a couple of days this past year that I got up at the crack of dawn to get to a few in the 2.5 to 3 hour range out. I also extended my season this year starting in February (new month for me) and extending to late November (was usually lucky to get just into November). I also added 12 courses to DGCR this year and added 3 states to my total including Hawaii! Not a bad bagging year for 2022.

I once got down to 9 courses in WI NOT played. That was like 6 years ago and it now sits at 95. This is my year to hit the back-roads in WI and get that number back down again!
