Homemade DiscCatcher Gallery

For the rings I've used copper tubing stitched together like this or you could use some D-ring binders kinda like this.. I happen to have a bunch of the 3.5in rings I picked up from the goodwill store. If I can fit one in an envelope without too much extra expense I'd gladly send you one. HTH

I got the right number of links on the chain, I may have mounted the basket too low relative to the top. It may also look a little off since the chains are pulled together too tight at the bottom.

I looked at the spreadsheet of "approved targets" and even in the championship category there is no set target zone dimension. It ranges from 46 to 53 cm (roughly 18 to 21 in). I'll have to remeasure tonight and see if it's in that range.

The other thing that I'm a little disappointed with is the sound. Since I just threaded some wire through the chain links and didn't use S hooks to connect the chains to a metal hoop - it just doesn't have the same metalic rattle.

You need to move your inside chains closer to the pole---that's where the "ching!" sound comes from.

Anniversary Gift.

Homemade Mini Basket. Wife surprised me with this today, she'd spent the last few weeks running around town gathering parts and putting it together. Thanks to DiscNation's website for the specs.

Aaahhhhhh... that's sweet. ;)

No really... that IS sweet!

The Camp that I grew up going to had a disc golf course but had tone poles. Some people finally convinced them it was time to build some actual baskets... This is what they came up with!!

Wow I wish my wife would build something like that for me! She hate's disc golf though :(

She's pretty awesome. She may be starting to regret it with all these minis flying through the house... Even though I catch her doing the same thing throughout the day.

Pure woodwork mastery! :hfive:

I have put together IMO the most sturdiest portable basket together. I can actually pull the entire basket down to one side and it will bounce back straight up. let me know what you think.

My basket

Here's my basket - made over a rainy spring break using roughly the plans from "Kentucky-bum" - A Great Build-at-home Disc Golf Target (or a better use for 55-gal drums!). My challenge was I wanted it to be portable - the base is a 5 gallon bucket with 60 lbs of concrete. The basket is on a 2" pvc that fits into a 3"pvc tube with two ground down 3" to 2" adapters.

Took a bunch of different ideas I saw online and here it is

Only cost me about $20 bucks

Outer chains 20ft for $10 from biglots

Inner chains 20ft dog chains for $6 from walmart

Pole free from dads garage

xmas tree stand trash picked

soaker hose trash picked

bike tire trash picked

Base of basket was made from a lightweight water proof material plastic/aluminum coated. I found it on the side of the road it was an old store sign. Could use plywood but not as durable or light. And shelve brackets from my dads garage.

used wire to connect chains and make bottom rings

Spray paint $3

Here is a shot of my new basket I'm building. It's my second one I've made out of skis, different design this time. Just needs the rest of the chains.

Made this a couple years ago. I breaks down into 4 parts and fits inside the trunk of a car.
