What hobby got dumped for DG?

Playing Ultimate. Couldn't find enough people to organize pickup games anymore, so I moved to a disc sport that only requires one person.

You really should pick up Ultimate again, considering how bad you are at Disc Golf!

I didn't dump anything for DG specifically, I shattered my ankle and was no longer able to do my other hobbies. I found out about disc golf shortly after and it became an obsession for me.\

Before the ankle incident I was very good at basketball, at 5'8" I could grab the rim easily and barely dunk the ball, but that was a big enough accomplishment for me. I also did gymnastics for 10 years, got up to competition level just before my accident.

I can only walk about 2 miles before the ankle starts hurting enough to quit for the day, but I can do about 4 miles if I'm playing DG. That distance is getting smaller as the months go by, but I'll take what I can get.

I had tons of ankle injuries and one major knee injury playing football in high school, and disc golf seemed like a good non-contact sport to have fun and be outdoors.

Fly fishing for Alaskan rainbow trout - the biggest and baddest in the world.

Major jealousy here. Not that I really get that tired of catching 5-7" native brookies or stocked trout, but every now and then....

In terms of money spent, DG has replaced radio control trucks.
When it comes to time spent, DG gets me off the internet and away from the computer (except when I'm on the forum, or shopping for more discs  ).

:D We have a Tmaxx and a Stampede, both nitro fuel. Luckily, the two kid I bought them for lot interest. Now the youngest two are starting to bug me about them, they'll probably start eating into my DG time.

homemade porn

Ah ha! Is MB Scott Stokely in disguise or does anyone making home porn throw over that elusive 200 m barrier? Should I try it? :)

backpacking :(

Heh, we live close to the Sierras and love to hike, but every time we go into the high country it is hard for both of us to not think about playing the great courses instead of hiking. But still, we do get some hiking done...

...this coming year we have long been thinking about hiking the California portion of the Pacific Crest Trail. It is already hard to do with work and scheduling and all, but I think we can pull it off, if only in pieces (the Sierra part is of highest priority). But you can be sure that there will be a couple discs in our backpacks, and some great high Sierra safari disc golf to be played!

i used to live down there and spent a lot of time in the sierras as a kid -- camping in plumas-eureka, playing frisbee in the yosemite visitors center parking lot -- in the fall when the crowds are gone, etc. i hiked the tahoe-yosemite trail with my dad in the mid-'80s, so, part of the pct there. since moving to washington i've worked on sections of it, but now it's been a few years since i've been up on the crest. have you seen erik the black's pct maps? amazing stuff, the whole 2600 miles in a compact 5-volume set, with lots of nice/useful data.
