What is your ideal wizard? Flex, colors stamp?

I personally like a s to ss swirl in a dark gray with a party time or oil slick stamp.

What about you? I suppose this could count for all gateway, and to a degree all putters. But gateway has the most mind boggling array of plastics, and custom stamps. And of all the gateway molds, the wizard is king.

For putting:

Low shoulder, chalky and a tiny bit rubbery. The firmness designations have changed quite a bit over the years, but most of my favorites are on the firm side of SS, or softer side of S. Just a little bit of give to the flight plate. My go-to wizard is an ancient Medium but it's so beaten in that it's softer than most S's I pick up now.

For throwing:

Same thing but a little firmer. I am good with a slightly higher shoulder for throwing, but still prefer them on the lower-shoulder side generally. The firm red Nikko's are basically perfect throwers IMO. PWP Wizards are also great throwers but a little too slick out of the box to call "ideal." By the time I get a PWP beaten up enough to really like the plastic feel, it's getting a little too understable for my main thrower slot.

Fossil Wizards

Low shoulder, gritty and nicely OS

I like the Wiz to also have a perfectly straight inner rim. Sometimes they bubble out a smidge and other times they almost have a divot in the middle of the inner rim.

I am sort if the opposite. I am totally fine with the higher shoulder for putting, for driving I want low and tight. I am leaving my PWP wizards I have out in the elements in the practice basket to help season right now.

For throwing I have switched to the chief because it is a squished wizard, though I've a couple old organics from 2014, that are about as low profile as the chiefs, those are great throwers. A crooked finger may have something to do with my preference for driving with super shallow wizard though.

When PWP came out following fossil I hoped it was going to be gateway rebranding fossil. Alas it is slick as snot new. Except for one PW warlock I received. It feels alot like fossil.

Before gateway really revamped their evolution into platinum and diamond I remember lots of the "clear" wizards having one of those two issues in regards to the inner rim.

Something grippy with a good flex: SSS, 4S, RFF, etc.

And definitely the stamp has to say STICKIN' PUTTS

I look for Wizards in Viagra plastic; I want those things as stiff as they can get.

I look for a low shoulder for a driving putter, but sometimes you get players pack Wizards without a lot of control over that and I've found that I can putt with anything so high-shouldered, Eraser or SS plastic just end up being putting putters and it's all good. I'm really only picky about driving putters.

The exception is the really floppy stuff like RFF; those Wizards I just trade off. I just can't stand a floppy putter.

When I'm bored at work i think about putting with Eraser wizards. If that doesn't work, i think about throwing firm(er) wizards off the tee.

G9i (I'm sorry for what's about to happen)

Many moons ago, I had a G9i that I traded or sold. It was the stiffest disc I've ever held on my hands. I've had clipboards more flexible than that disc.

I really liked the Soft Wizards they were running up until they changed the stamp and the designation of Soft to Firm. They had a lower shoulder.

Everytime i checked the site they are out of these. (Sad)

It doesn't have it's own term as far as I know, but I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the black plastic that tends to have the gritty texture towards the outer edge. I've had wizards in the SS and SSS range with this blend, typically a firmer plate with softer outer edge with some texture.

I've carried a black wizard and black magic the last few years.

Apparently they are 100% Illegal in PDGA play now.

There was a medium my dad has one that was almost as stiff but just at PDGA legal still as that plastic became a variant of S firmness's then went to firm and became a tad stiffer then most common S plastic basically old Medium again.

I had an old medium voodoo. Was quite tall and had glide for days.
