[Vibram] Vibram Disc Golf Thread (Part II)

Medium Vs Firm

To make it simple so that multiple people will be able to relate:
Firm = MVP discs, the plate feels very 'firm' or tight.
Medium = lightweight Innova Star or Discraft ESP/FLX, squishy flight plate.

Firm = Fly further (for me) and break in faster.
Medium = Last longer, better grip.

Hope that helps.

Never thrown a vibram disc, and am going to get an unlace. Can someone enlighten me to the differences between medium and firm?

Thanks!

Firm has a bit more plastic in it so it actually breaks in like a premium golf disc. The mediums have a bit of flex to them, like a gummy champ disc. Firms used to be noticeably slicker, like a DX disc but now they seem to be almost as grippy as medium.

Thanks! Both of those descriptions were helpful. I think I'm going to try to find a high 160's medium and give it a whirl. If nothing else it'll be the most colorful disc I own

Medium is more durable and generally a lil more over stable.

For those talking about the wide rims, I feel like while the Lace has a big rim, it doesn't feel like that big of a rim. It doesn't have that Boss or Nuke feel to it, which is one of the many reasons I like it.

Anyone throw rollers with M. Laces? Super straight lines im getting out of it and being softer doesn't seem to matter, might even make initial landing angle a little more forgiving for some reason but haven't thrown enough yet to see for sure.

Has anyone thrown the '13 Red/White VO Lace yet? It seemed like the Black/Reds discs from last year were a little more overstable than their regular counterpart. Wondering if its the same for this year and especially if its the same for the Lace?
Heading to the field, will report back.

Ok, threw the '13 VO Lace (173 with a slight dome) alongside a new 173 M with a slight dome and didn't notice too much of a difference in stability. Watching the '13 VO Lace fly made me slightly dizzy.

Yeah, those colors rotating can do that to you.

Hey Dana, are you going to have an UnLace in your bag?

Does anyone throw forehand and has had a chance to try the O-Lace? I am curious how good it will be for forehand

Yes, planning on carrying one. Right now, I have been working with my protos in the field.

I'm interested to check out the Firm version for rolling.

It will be a very good disc for forehand, its firebird overstable and the few throws that I had with it, it performed just as well as a firebird.

I am very excited for this disc then, could never get into the lace but this disc might be more for me

This sounds like the OLace prior to the retooling. The OLace that is scheduled to go into production this year will be a less stable version. The Massively Overstable version that most of the testers will tell you is the OLace should go into production next year. At least that is the last word I heard.

I am looking forward to trying the UnLace as a roller disc myself. Still trying to figure out how to get my hands on the UnLace as neither of the Pinnacle Retailers near me have them in stock yet.

I haven't seen any yet either, just the protos.

Word is they fixed the OLace (the VO ones were about Lace stability). Hope I can get my hands on em in time to work them in for the USDGC.

I ordered mine from Community Disc. I know discnation.com has some and so does discgolfcenter.com

I know the thread has since moved on, but thanks guys for the feedback about the lace. Really wanna try a medium, max weight Lace to see how it does.

As for this OLace has there been any official word on it? Or have the test peoples gotten some insight to its release?

Still tryin' to understand how a guy 3 months in uses a Firebird ?
Isnt everything a hyzer disc at that point ?
Is it for extra height in the rainbow, or because it crashes back to Earth faster ?
