Big Hyzer Bags Ergo 2

John(the owner of big hyzer) makes the bags himself. That's the reason why there's only a few in stock and plus he doesn't custom orders for people. So it does take a while for a mass amount of the bags to be produced. But he's a great guy and took care of my bag for me and the quality is top notch.

Can anyone give me an idea of the capacity of the side pockets on this thing? I had an Ergo 1 but was disappointed with the side storage.

Also, is there any organization to the huge bottom pocket, or is it just a huge pocket still?

Im not familiar to the ergo 1 but the side pockets on the ergo 2 are big enough to hold the essential stuff plus a lil more. And yeah the bottom pocket is just one big pocket. More space than the side pockets offer. I can fit the rainfly and a large hoodie in there and a couple of towels.

Thanks for the quick response. Are you putting like wallet/keys/cell phone in those side pockets?

Also, does yours have the issue with the lower back being uncomfortable, like there wasn't enough padding? Or has that been fixed? Thanks man!

What I do is take the rainfly out of the top and put my phone and such in there and put the rainfly in one of the side pockets. As far as the bottom padding, if you wear the bag as intended with the straps snug you will not have any trouble at all its very comfortable. If, however, you are one of the guys that like to sag the bag with the straps loosened all the way you may find it uncomfortable because that is not the way this bag (or any bag) is intended to be worn.

Cool, thanks. What are you putting in the side pockets, then? Just trying to gauge capacity on this one. If there are some posts in this thread just point me in the right direction. Don't want to be a nuisance.

What are you thinking about putting in there? Other than phone, keys, wallet, rainfly, and water there isn't much else to carry. You can fit a L sweatshirt in the bottom pocket and some snacks easily in the sides on tournament rounds. After that any extra storage is just wasted space in my opinion.

Dog poop bags, collapsible water dish, rain gear, golden retriever, chalk, tape, first aid kit, etc.

My first gen's pockets were a problem when I first got mine (was something I posted in my video if you remember), but they've stretched to allow keys in the mesh pockets on one side and phone (Galaxy S4) and bi-fold wallet in the other. I could fit some other small stuff in there, but I haven't done so.

I've seen a 2, and one thing I know was addressed was that they grew the pockets a little. You should have no problems fitting the basics without having to wait for the pockets to stretch. They won't fit a hoodie or anything though.

Pretty much everything you listed could fit in the bottom pocket all together alone save the rain gear. You could also use the bottom pocket to hold ~7 extra discs if your heart desired.

Thanks, tbird and skizzle. I don't carry a ton, but like to know I can if I want to. I am leaning Ergo for sure, but this isn't something I can do right now, anyway. Just like to do my homework before making the leap. All the info is appreciated!

Argh one more question, sorry guys. Do the side pockets have a separate pocket or slot for a phone or wallet like the first gen, or are they just wide open?

I saw a pic where a guy cut up an old backpack and sewed the calculator/pencil organizer part into his bag. Could be an option...

That's kind of a bummer, since they had them on the first gen. I wonder if he'd do them custom...

I agree. That little bit of mesh makes a huge difference in making a small(ish) pocket a little more versatile. If the addition of that little bit of space means giving up some organization, it's not at all worth it.

Yup. I don't want to just stuff a bunch of crap in there, stack it and then have it fall out when I unzip it. I have an email in to John to see if he'd add some pockets for a custom job. We shall see.

Not that I'm in the market for a new bag, but I'll be interested to hear what he says about the pockets. I asked in my video review for more space, not more space with less utility. Definitely please report back with his response.

Will do. I'd also love to see a pocket on the inside of the bottom storage. Something like the pockets on the Flak, but hanging down so I could slide a phone or wallet in along the top side would be sweet. Hopefully that makes sense.

I would love to see a couple pockets in the main area. I always felt like most of that pocket was wasted space on my first gen.
