Has anyone heard any other reviews about the Disc Gator? I saw a review from Jomez on youtube, and I was impressed from the prototypes that they had posted before. Needless to say I ended up buying one with 2 poles. I currently carry a Golden Retriever for the wet disc, and a tape measure for the disc high out of reach. I think this may do a better job than both of those. I like the Golden Retriever (and it has paid for itself), but sometime the terrain of a creek bed can kick the retriever over the disc pretty easily. With this, it looks like it will not be fun to get out and assemble it, but it will save time overall because it should be a one shot grab. It was suppose to arrive in the mail today, but it is hung up between RI and OH some where. I should be able to answer any questions that you may have once I get it in.

Seems like a decent tool, as long as you can see your disc.

As for the gator tool, it looks nice. I especially like that you can attach multiple to each other. I do wish they advertised the actual length of one though.

I was sent a prototype a while back and it's saved my discs quite a few times since I've gotten it. I have 4 final versions to give away, I was planning on already having the giveaway up and running but food poisoning changed my plans so I'm shooting for Monday now.

Each pole is ~6ft.

Too bad I didn't know about that before I ordered one, lol. Maybe next time... :)

5' 2", extended. I might try this. Lot of snakes around here in Spring/Summer. I usually use a stick before I go in to get my disc. This would solve a couple of problems.

Sweet, if you post here I may actually see it. :D

It came in the mail today, and I must say that I'm actually pretty impressed. I haven't used it on a creek, but it picked up a disc off my office floor, because I figured a flat surface would be the hardest to get under a disc. It pushed the disc backwards, but as soon as there was something to add a little pressure to the back of the disc, it clamped down instantly. I tried it out on a Roc3, and it held the disc nicely with enough pressure to hold the disc, but not enough to damage it. I bought two poles, so the sleeve that they send with it was two of them sewn together with on bungee ran through the top. I really like how when you pull out one extension of the poles, a quick twist of the poles and it holds tightly. With the poles fully collapsed, they are just under 2' long. I was hoping for a little shorter, but sticking in the umbrella slot of a Grip bag will be a nice spot.

I bought a 15' rod for golf balls on Amazon Prime for $19. It has a hook, but it's worked really well the one time I needed to use it.

$40 is steep IMO, and 5'2" isn't very long (I realize that's "plus the length of your arm" but still).

Can you post a picture of the hook? I wish the rods for the Gator was a little longer, but they are REALLY sturdy. The pole is about twice as thick as the pole that I keep with my golf clubs. Plus the clamp system works really well. Once it is on the disc, I don't have to worry about it being knocked loose.

This would be nice for the times when I can't get my Golden Retriever behind my disc because of rocks or sunken branches.

That is exactly why I bought it. My Golden has paid for itself with saved plastic, but some times it can be time consuming because of the rocking.

One of my buddies bought one one these this week and we played 2 rounds today with it. We all carry golden retrievers and one of us has the long extending pole with the hook(used to be a suction cup). We were all blown away with the gator and I was also surprised at how durable it felt. Only knock was that it was a little short but the rest of us agreed to buy one each and we will have plenty of extensions. It also can with a device to hook it on your bag across your back which was nice. We just wished wed thought of it. Great product.

I agree about the pole length, so that is why I bought the 2 pole one. It takes longer to set up compared to my Golder Retriever, but it seems to make up for that since you can usually get the disc on your first shot instead of trying to fish the disc out with the Retriever.

I would try one if they just sold the clamp without the pole. A 5 1/2' pole would be pretty worthless.

I seen a guy with one of these while I was BG AMS. He said that the clamp will fit on most utility poles. So he just bought an 18' telescopic paint roller pole.

That is probably the way to to go, I saw that when I first heard of the disc gator, I googled it and the images looked like it was compatible with most poles with the screw end. A telescopic roller pole would probably work great.
