Now that I've started designing and creating molds, I've paid close attention to the process of hype & release from disc manufacturers. Some releases (any MVP/Axiom) seem to be a homerun right off the bat while other companies hype up a disc, only to see it fail to meet expectations.

I admire the process of Legacy hyping up the Outlaw for months, retooling to get a perfect flight and then releasing it to overwhelmingly positive reviews. I also think that MVP played the Aton release perfectly.

The mold however that seemed to be released into mass hype and then kinda just fade away was the T3. I have one in my bag and it really is a neat disc. It seemed to me that the disc was everything that most players want in a Teeb. That said, I rarely hear it discussed.

What are some other molds that were incredibly hyped up but seemed to just kind fall flat or not remain "In the Bag" of the masses?

The Quarter K by Discwing.

Touted as revolutionary and sure to set distance records due to its unique aerodynamic wing. Yeah, not so much. Didn't help that the plastic they molded it in sucked.

Atlas?

Never thrown one, I hear they are decent but Innova making an overmold disc seems to be talked about quite a bit.

Maybe not mold, but Blizzard plastic kinda fizzled out much quicker than the initial hype would have suggested.

dunno how anticipated it was, but the foxbat suuuuuucks (imo..)

Meh, the Foxbat is a great utility disc. The issue comes when players want to throw it 100% power and it turns over.

I'd say the Atlas too. Not too many being thrown around these parts. Cant get used to the wierd underside. I have large hands and I cant get my fingers on the flight plate right without feeling the injection mold parts.

For the hype, I think you could say Prodigy, in general.

I agree with this assessment. I don't see a whole lot of Prodigy adopters left out there. However, I think they sold pretty well out the gate so maybe they came out on top after all? I have no idea.

I think you see some of these newer innova molds "flop" because it seems like most people on here define a good innova mold as "one that came out before I started playing dg" and a gimmicky/bad mold as "one that came out after I started playing dg".

I feel like the T3 was vastly overshadowed by the Thunderbird. Weren't they both released around the same time? I think Innova jammed them in too close together on the release schedule to make both successful.
