so i don't know how many of you reading this are from around the area i live in but a little over a week ago a guy ( Gabe Harder ) who lives about 45 min from where i'm at got into a serious bicycle accident, all ive heard is he was cruising down hill and lost control and hit a tree breaking just about every bone in his face and shattering a few vertebra, doctors didnt think he was gonna make it through the night. the reason i'm talking about this is cause the dude was big into dg and was very helpful with helping others at their events. I just met him this spring at the SRO..

so now there is going to be a tourney on july 31 to help him out since he has no insurance to help cover his expenses.

im not totally sure what all is gonna take place at this event but I have heard about plenty of different games and raffles will be going on to help raise money. i am goin to be donating a bag for a raffle prize.

I am also going to be making some thing i said i would never do and will be auctioning it off on ebay to help raise some money to help Gabe out.... ok so now your probably wondering what it is im gonna make.... well ... I decided that the one thing i could do to help Gabe out the most would be to make a LE Simian and put it on ebay so thats what im gonna do and it is going to happen soon since the event is coming up in a month. i will start workin on it as soon as im done with the chimps im working on right now and then once its done get some pictures up of it. I'm hoping i can raise a decent amount with it to donate towards helping out a great guy!

That's awesome that you are doing that for him. That's a shame what happened. I hope he fully recovers with no permanent damage. Was he wearing a helmet?

from what I have heard he had on a helmet but im not sure how much it may or may not have helped him. he was found unconscious right away by a neighbor who heard the crash and just so happened to be a nurse and the n he had no ID on him and what my friend told me was they were able to id him through his ipod some how

I hit my head on a tree once when I was mountain biking. I wasnt wearing a helmet, and I wasnt even movin' that fast. It hurt like hell and left me with a headache for the rest of the day. You can bet that I wear a helmet from now on.

Anyways, I hope you can raise lots of cheddar for this guys doctor bills. I like to think that I have friends like that when disaster strikes, but then I realize that no-one likes me...:\

That's really awesome of you and I wish I could help out, no job though(and little cash left) :\. I had a moment riding back from my hair cutter's where I went off the sidewalk to avoid something for a second and somehow that screwed up my balance bad. That sort of whipped me to the ground, my head probably a foot or less(not sure) from the sidewalk, it had me thinking what would have happened if my head had smashed into the sidewalk instead of the soft ground. I hope he gets better and that the event and ebay auction go well.

Gabe is an awesome guy. I dont know him very well but I do know he loves disc golf and does a lot in our area.
Thats a noble thing you're doing for him man. I've already asked off for the tournament/fundraiser and plan on being there.

yea im like 982 and one of the back simians. i thought the new system was gonna be faster but right now its not lookin good unless you ordered a small bag. hope i get it by my birthday in march lol
