These goals really help me with my game and I suggest everyone set at least two types of goals: yearly and career.

Here were my goals from last year:

Done - 1) Throw 450' (Just broke 400' yesterday)
Close - 2) Be consistantly 10/10 20' and in.
No - 3) Have 8/10 consistantcy from 30'
No - 4) Play 7 more courses (including Whistlers)
got 4 - 5) Get an ace (doesn't hurt to put it right?)
Done - 6) Score 900+ rated rounds in a tournament (Right now I've had one but my second round was below)
Done - 7) Get a membership and get my rating over 880.
Done - 8) Host a fundraiser tournament for the Western Oregon Disc Golf Club.

Putting can always use practice, also goal #1 is competitive distance.

Goals for 2011

1 - Shoot a 1000 rated round
2 - Get my rating over 950
3 - Be extremely confident from 20'
4 - Be confident from 30'
5 - Win a tournament in Advanced
6 - Qualify for Am Worlds
7 - Teach 3 new people how to play.

1. Keep the wife happy.
2. Win one turnie [I keep ending up 2nd and 3rd].
3. Play 3 more states.
4. Smoother anies.
5. Be a contestant on Survivor.
6. achieve enlightenment without shaveing my head.

1) Win an Intermediate PDGA tourney
2) Raise my rating to at the very least 925-930 (next transmission I will be 913-915) with the ultimate goal to be ineligible for Intermediate
3) Design a course completely on my own and get it implemented (I have 2 places right now I am working on, both private property (one a ski hill and one a golf course).
4) Assist on at least 5 course designs and hopefully sell some DG course installations
5) Increase my putting accuracy to 9/10 from 20' and 7/10 from 30' and consistantly make 1 putt from outside the circle every 18 hole round at a minimum.
6) Maintain my average of at least 1 round per day.
7) Raise my holes played per day average to over 18 holes (currently about 17.0)
8) Hit 300 courses played and reviewed (currently 213 played with only 2 unreviewed)

1) Throw 500 backhand
2) Throw 500 forehand
3) Win an advanced tourney (first I would have to renew membership to pdga)
4) Hit another ace
5) Shoot a -15 at home course (Chautauqua, Fairfield, Iowa)
6) Play 50 courses total (I'm really close as is)
7) Shoot a 1000 rated round in tournament (4 off atm)
8) Renew pdga membership and get over 950 rating

First I would like to say that this is a great idea for a thread, thanks! Second a little advice to those who have posted and will post. Make sure that you write down these goals it always makes it more possible to achieve them.

1. Set aside 30 minutes at least 4 times a week to practice putting
2. Win an tourney in advanced
3. Hit 6 aces(this may change but I have hit 5 so far this year might as well make it one more)
4. Get to a pro rating playing in tourneys
5. At least two times a month get in field practice just throwing discs(weather permitting)
6. Hit an ace either in leagues or a tourney
7. Shoot a 1000 rated round in a tourney
8. Play the highbridge hill courses and the lemon lake courses and blue ribbon pines
9. Become the best/most consistent player at my home course
10. Make my distance drives more consistent on 450 plus
11. Drive more consistent any distance putter through dd
12. Practice practice practice
13. Become a better putter
That's all that I can think of right now. But I will keep the list going as I think of more. I know some goals seem a little high but it will be fun shooting for it.

Here's mine:

1. Up my midrange (read: Buzzz) average distance to 325' w/accuracy (it is a consistent 275'-290' now)
2. Practice putting* at least 2-3 times per week.
3. Field practice** at least 1-2 times per week.
4. Join the PDGA and establish a rating
5. Cash in intermediate division of a PDGA sanctioned tournament(I feel like I'm good enough to do this now, just haven't played tourneys in awhile)
6. Win an intermediate division in a PDGA sanctioned tournament
7. Place in top half of Advanced Am field.

---
*Putting practice means 100+ putts in a session of doing drills and working on various styles (push putt, straddled push putt, scoober/scooby, turbo)

**Field practice means 45 minutes of throwing discs with a specific goal for each session (i.e. form diagnosis, accuracy, developing forehand, etc.)

My goals for next year:

1. Place in top twenty of Advanced division at BG Ams
2. Place in top twenty at Amatuer National Championships
3. Defend my local league title
4. Match my forehand distance with backhand
5. Cash in Open division in PDGA tourney (but decline cash to stay Am!)
6. Practice putting at least 4 times a week.

Goals:

For the girlies:
5-6 clinics throughout the year
Start a women's series that will last through the years
Hold a highly successful PDGA sanctioned womens event at Flyboy
Get a consistant card of women at local tournies and 2 or more cards at bigger events

For me:
Compete in 2-3 tournies
Throw over 900 rated rounds
Stay healthy! (no more arm pain!!)

1: Compete in 3 tournaments (they'll be my first!!!)
2: Be much more confident in putts up to 30'
3: Be able to throw RHBH consistently and accurately up to 325'
4: Play 4 new courses (I'm playing one this weekend, and I'm gonna count it)
5: Disc down and only carry midranges and fairway drivers until I get #3
6: Be able to birdie every hole at Limona except #9 (be able to get a 3 on it)

1. Move up to the Advanced division
2. Increase rating to above 950
3. Cash in all tournaments played
4. Increase driving accuracy
5. Improve putting to 99% inside 20', 80% inside 30', and 50% inside 50'
6. Travel to and play in at least 3 A tier events

I hit most of my goals for this year. I wanted to get to 300 courses played and reviewed, I'm close to 350 on both. I was aiming for a rating over 900 by the end of the year, I should make that with the next update. I didn't get to as many new states as I hoped this year, so I'm at 22 with my goal at 25. I hoped to improve my distance, and I definitely did, I was struggling to throw 340' at the beginning of the year, and now I can often throw a little over 400'.

Goals for 2011:
1. Rating over 915
2. 500 courses played and reviewed
3. 30 states played
4. Make time to practice putting, and improve consistency

Goals for 2011:
1. blah blah blah
2. 500 courses played and reviewed
3. blah blah blah
4. blah blah blah

I am throwing in the white towel I will continue to play new courses at my own pace, but there is noway in hell I am ever going to catch you. 300 might be a stretch for me at the end of next year, because it is going to take more roadtrips and the closes NEW course to me is already 60 miles away.

It is awe inspiring! for a course whote like myself!

Wow I'm sad now. I've only played one course (2 by this weekend). How do you do all that?

Sorry for spamming the thread.

It's definitely getting harder for us to play new courses, we don't have many within a couple hours any more, so I'm not expecting another 200 course year like 2010 until we move somewhere new that has a bunch of courses. We do already have a couple trips tentatively planned though to get to some new places next year, already looking forward to it.

If I remember correctly, the main DG goal I set for myself for 2010 was 365 rounds played, and I've already got that one.

For 2011, I want to hit 400'. I can occasionally get one out to 350' now. My biggest goal for 2011, though is to get our new course in the ground.

- tighten up putting inside the circle and work on form
- push my mids past the 250-275 mark consistently
- play more courses outside of cedar rapids more frequently
- compete in at least 5 tournaments
- maybe hit another ace
- perfect my x-step technique + extend reachback
- keep my job long enough to replace all the plastic im going to lose this summer
- challenge myself by playing harder courses more often
- keep having fun and doing what i love
