how do you react when people throw in on you?

There are only 4 players here in my home town. If I come across one of them, I am happy. We all played Ultimate together for years, so if one of them shoots in my direction, I pretend to catch it, but of course let it fly by untouched.

Aside from practice rounds where each of us stands at a basket and we throw midranges back and forth, nobody has ever thrown at me without warning and without making sure that I am aware of it.

If it's a blind tee and they can't see where I am at by the basket, I like to yell "STILL HERE PAL!" I usually hear a sorry. If it happens again, their disc is being tossed in the brush. I'm out there to relax, not turn into a crazy idiot yelling at everybody.
If there is one thing teenagers respond to, it's being yelled at. :hfive:

It's never happened to me. Like someone else said, I'm a very fast player, I usually leave people behind.

at my home course everyone usually yells fore or heads up and waits for holes to be clear before throwing. Usually when someone throws on me its ok they usually give a heads up or a holler. I have thrown on some people (once in a parking lot) and either had my discs saved from hitting cars or a wow! nice throw or something.

Tossing their disc into brush = them thinking you stole their disc = them not returning/stealing discs in the future.

How about joining up with their group and schooling them in the fine arts of discgolfery. You may end up with new friends and or looked up to as a disc golf god.

^I am
I take their disc and cut it in half with a box cutter and tell them let see how well you can throw on me now while Im still on the hole.

Letting faster groups play through usualy avoids this problem, but if someone insists on throwing at me, a loud "WTF, we're here" works most of the time! If the course is crowded a little patiance from all is required.

When I was first starting to play at home, a new course had just been installed and I was not sure of exactly how each hole played. Hole 4 at Wilbur Young plays up and over a hill before going back down to the creek. Not yet knowing flight paths, I ripped my Valk then sprinted up to the top of the hill to watch it...as it flew right down by several players with Quadstrap bags. I apologized and they ended up letting me play with them. We had a great time, made the paper (playing in 105 degrees), and took a dip in the water hazard when we tossed a couple of discs in it.

Only time I've ever had to escalate beyond "Not Clear" Was at Acorn in Roseville, MN. I was there with my wife, my 3 kids and my nephew. The 2 youngest were in strollers. We teed off on hole 2 and as we were putting a disc flew into the wheel of the stroller. THis is not a blind hole. My wife picked up the disc and threw it back at them. Then the *******s threw another one that almost hit my 4 year old daughter.

I pulled the pocket knife out of my bag, walked over to his disc and cut his new Champ boss in half.

They gave us a lot of room after that.

If anyone ever throws on me, I take there disc and toss it into the crap off the fairway. They will learn not to do that again.

@ dead body - Here's an idea to keep your wife and kids safe while out on the course - DON'T BRING THEM, at least leave the wife an kids in the strollers at home, I mean c'mon, you expect everyone on the course to sit around and wait while your stupid wife pushes around a stroller and your 3-4 yr old kids wander here and there while YOU play? That's asinine. I find that more annoying than some idiot throwing in on me, and if you cut my brand new disc in half with a boxcutter I would beat your a$$ and raid your bag, or just call the cops, just because someone does something you don't like doesn't mean you can destroy their property ya schmuck.

I've had this happen a couple times at a local course. I'll yell back down the fairway that the hole is not cleared and not to throw at another group holing out. I'm not going to act polite and nice about it. They know someone's on the hole and just proceed to throw anyways. I've been really tempted to just crush their disc into some brush. If a group continued to throw on me, that is exactly what will happen.

wow!! Your a straight bitch for saying that. O, maybe its cus you think your such a badass from new York. Why are you even on this site? To.whine amd complain like a five year old girl? Is cut ur entire bag of discs in half just to spite you for being a piece of **** if i ever met you.:thmbdown:

Guys, there has to be a happy medium. I think bringing kids and your wife might be a little much if you're not going to be courteous and let people play through. If your bringing them and leting them learn the game, or just have a family hang out is cool. Just be courteous and let people play through. Can't we all just get along?

Kids are fine. Babies in strollers on a hilly wooded course... not so much...

He never said he wouldn't let them play threw! Are you kidding me. So your telling me i cant bring my daughter to the course? I have to worry about *******s like this guy throwing discs at my children!! This guys ridiculous and shouldn't.even get to enjoy this game imho. I always let people play through, on the next hole!!!,I'm not gonna stop in the middle of a fairway bc there is a huge group of losers chucking discs 100 ft trying to.hit someone. He said they straight up.threw another disc directly at them. That's ignorant and rude as hell, just like all these dicks that come from.the scummy, dirty city of new York.
