After seeing the spottiness from the remask on the red, I decided to do a cover over for the remask on the Steal your Face with the dancing bear in it. As you can see, the dye seeped around the cover on the mask and just barely got the dye in onto the skull. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shaving cream didn't work as well for me on this one either. Left it pretty thick, and used a LOT of colors, but kinda came out monotone-ish and definitely spread out too fast. The SC was popping bubbles all over the place...don't know if that means I was too thick, but I haven't had that problem before. Then again, I haven't SC'd in a long time either! Still very VERY happy with how it came out.

^I really like the lightning bolt! (May need to get a few of those cut for myself) Is it too late to remask the blue and just leave it for a day or two to see if it will 'pick up' some of the dye? If the blue area also had bubbles and 'patina' it would look intentional AND have that overall cool retro look to it.

Also.... what is that glorious chartreuse behind the bear in the SYF?

Nice job on those Bennett. Your colors are always really nice and seem to have that "pop". It may not have been intentional, but I like the spotty effect on the the lightning bolt. I like the color choices on the SYF too.

Clear Champ Beast, dyed for a groomsman in my wedding who I grew up playing Waracraft 3 with and he likes to skate. Did the rim separate as sort of a magnified effect.

Hey Bennett, maybe mask off the white in the steal your face dye and add this type of background to "hide" the bleedage? Just a thought if the bleed bothers you.

Absolutely amazing. I remember when this album came out, I saw the image and thought, "that would be an amazing dye" - but is waaaaay above my skill level.

If that disc is a Clutch, it would have been a great pairing.

Here's a few I've finished over the weekend. First one is this logo he wanted on his gator...apparently it is a wax for your surfboard. Made a rookie mistake and screwed up by pulling all the vinyl up on the r's on the bottom instead ofthe little piece in the center and didn't realize my mistake till it was done. Stupid me!

Second one is on an air enforcer. Another buddy wanted the pulp fiction cartoon characters on this one. When he bought the disc the description said it was a brown-purple color but when it showed up it was all brown and no purple...so I gave it a shaving cream bath in purple to give it that Brown-purple look he was hopping for. I only left it in the bed for 5 hours and the purple took a lot darker than I was hopping. Hopefully it fades nicely and a little more of the brown color will show up.

Last one is for the same friend as the enforcer. This is on an opto trident. He wanted me to dye a trident on this one, but I couldn't find anything I liked, so I went with a guy that's holding a trident.

I don't know if I ever mentioned what disc this was - it is a Prodiscus Ultrium Midari, and has confirmed my belief that white Ultrium plastic is the best plastic for dyeing.

You all have been posting some very nice dyes lately!

Here's a couple I did for a tournament coming up this weekend. First and second attempts at what I am calling the "sprinkle & pour" method.

First is a Gold Line River...

Second is a Champion FB...

I was pretty happy with my first attempt on the River. Just a little "staining" after I peeled the outline on the KN. I think it was just from some dye on my hands. Overall, pretty much just what I was going for.

The second attempt on the Champ FB, I was not as happy with. Ended up putting too much dye. I was hoping for more of the clear to show, with the colors streaking through it. Live and learn! Still came out OK.

Peace,
-Jeff

2 More

Just finished 2 more dyes, r-pro actually took the dye better than expected. The porus plastic left a bubbly effect in some areas but it compliments the wario style IMO.

And yes... I'm addicted to dying now. Might spend the money on a plotter soon to save my fingers from all this hand cutting.

Nice job! I've had my plotter for a month or 2 now and I love it. A design that would take me a hour or two to cut out by hand is done in minutes on the plotter.

Hand cutting is a valuable tool to learn though.

Appreciated! I don't mind the hand cutting by any means, I'm just leery to do anything too complicated or multi colored in fear of bleeds.

What kind of plotter did you get? Any issues with plotters that you've noticed DiscDown?

I bought a Titan from uscutter. My biggest issue with my plotter was getting it dialed in to make good accurate cuts. I have it setup pretty good now but after you do that learning the design software is the most important thing I think. I have a long way to go with that.
