Never played in an ace race...so does everyone use the same disc? I talked to a guy who said in an ace race he played, you go by points: 3 points for an ace, 2 for hitting chains or basket, and 1 for hitting the pole.

All aces take precedent over metal shots. In the instance that there are no aces or a tied amount of aces you count the amount of metal shots.Never played in an ace race...so does everyone use the same disc? I think they do. You're playing with a disc that's brand new to you, which evens out the difficulty a little bit with the shorter holes. They are the holes that are set up for an event, so it's not like you're just playing from a random spot and counting it as a hole.
I agree with this. New Disc, new route to the hole that you are not use to.
Maybe I just think that way because I have no aces and I'm playing my first Ace Race next week
I personally don't think I will come close to hitting one.
Just out of curiosity, what's the purpose of an ace race anyway? Is it a fund-raiser like the Ice Bowl or what?

It took two aces by one player to win the event at Calvert. There were three other players with an ace each.
I'd count the aces, but I must admit, if it were mine, I'd feel better about it if the ace came from the standard tee location, vice a shortened one which existed temporarily just for the ace race.
I've heard the Ace Race discs are basically Wizard clones this year, so I'm looking forward to the local one here.
