Feldberg on McFlysoHigh

there's a responsibility on the media's part to edit things a certain way (whether you believe it or not).

Correct, which is determined by media sponsors, so until Marty's sponsors address this as an issue it's a non-issue.

Wouldn't it be more productive for the PDGA to re-allocate the 100,000 they currently allocate per year on the PDGA magazine to videos like McFlys? I would think that if McFly was given that money to bring the best coverage possible any issues with cursing would be fixed. He might even be able to hire someone cheaply to scan videos for cursing and bleep them out. Would anyone miss the magazine?

I wonder how many kids have been not allowed to try disc golf due to a swear word being muttered on a YouTube video. I'll set the over/under at zero.

Ill take the under...that is...(-) as in I would bet there is a bad parent out there somewhere that made his child play disc golf to toughen them up because of a curse word he heard in a video. :)

Another thing all of these "it's hurting the kids" people clearly don't understand is that if a kid does see a video where players are out there cursing and slinging plastic that's going to make them want to play disc golf even more. Now if their parents tell them disc golf is bad because that guy on there is cursing then the kids are going to want to play disc golf for ****ing sure.

"Disc golf is bad."

The PDGA could most certainly ban certain media types from PDGA sanctioned events.

Deal with it.

Such as what?

I don't agree with Fledy blaming Mclfy for this. Mcfly is just documenting what happened. The raw emotion is part of the game and makes the pros seem like real people. Its not like he is focusing in on Nikko freaking out every video.

I do agree that it is up to the PDGA to solve this problem, not the people filming the rounds.

If you have a problem with anyone swearing on the videos turn the volume off.

If a parent wants to protect their child from hearing smut (or be there for teachable moments when they do encounter it), they need to sit beside their child at all times when on the internet....YouTube especially. Even if the videos were edited to make them clean, make sure they don't scroll down an read the comments!

I'd rather have my kids swearing and playing disc golf than taking up some of the other activities on Youtube.

In the age of constant media kids are exposed to things that we havnt even herd of. Much worse things out there on the internet

FTFY

If you think Nikko rage kicking his bag and then dumping his disc would not be on the "not so top 10" if this sport was mainstream you are wrong.

People eat that stuff up. Nikko being Nikko is what it is, not many people on here like him but he is a real human, flaws and all right in front of you. I like the guy, never met him, love his emotion, i can relate. Not all of us have found our way in life at that age, it takes some of us a lot longer.

Everyone loved tiger and dealt with his outburst until he got caught cheating on his wife then everyone was disgusted by him smh.

Jon Daly gets a free pass, cause he is human.

The sport needs characters weather you like it or not. Nikko is said character.

I am going to stop watching mob movies and TV shows. I think the use of swearing is hurting the image of the mob. How silly. All Marty needs to do is put a small disclaimer at the bottom that says that the video might contain adult language....then you parent if you dont want to see or have your children see it...additionally, if someone is so concerned what their children see or hear, they should preview it first.

The whole, swearing is bad for the image is a poor arguement. Most people (even those offended by the language) use some form of poor or colorful language...offensive. "Freaking" is offensive... you are thinking the offensive curse word. Shoot! Oh my gosh! Its the same reaction to an action as if you said the word or just made up words. Yet we have given words the power...when it is the ACTION that is the problem. An overly emotional outburst, regardless of the word, is the offensive act. If Nikko screams RABBIT!!! after every missed putt, that's less offensive because it is spelled differently. Thats laughable. Stop being fake offended. Sports, the PDGA, life is full of all sorts of people yet we act like our uncle doesnt go on curse tirades after a 12 pk of Pabst. Ever tell him you are offended...lol. Silly.

I laughed. I remember when playing little league a certain coach would get white girl wasted and go on crazy tirades only to be sent to the parking lot... :hfive: Yeah discgolf has an issue :\

The second post on Feldbergs other facebook profile after he deleted the first post:

... which is kinda funny because he had basically just attacked McFly in his wall'o'text first post.

Classic Dave really: blaming others/the course, and not himself ... a holier than thou attitude if you will

AND MOST OF ALL: you're welcome for capturing the screenshots of both posts before they were deleted ;)

I take it as a badge of honor to be considered a 'low-life' by Feldsansbeard.

There should be an official DGCR low-life badge.

Eh, someone expressed their opinion online and some people didn't agree. What's new? I hate the internet.

Warning:
This video contains expletives from ____ _____ who is sponsored by ____. If you do not want to hear them, don't watch, or turn the audio down. The majority of the audio is swearing anyway.

Honest question for those saying "protect the kids/edit the cursing" - are we to understand you to simply want the curses bleeped, but the rants and poor sportsmanship to stay in?

Or is it that you want to have the cursing edited out and any rants or chair slamming, bag kicking edited out as well.

And for the record, if the PDGA decides to limit the UNPAID videographers on-site to only those who agree to mute and edit players to be in a better light than they actually acted... I would hope that all of them would just stop video'ing. Let the PDGA pay for camera operators & editors and see what that does to the purse at events.
