How does something like a Crave compare to a Maverick, Squall, Zombee, etc? Using a maverick for that slot right now

Haven't thrown a Maverick, I would say it does have less turn than the Squalls I have seen and feels nicer than the Zombee, probably a touch longer too.

so something more comparable to a stalker, then? Sounds like something I might give a shot

So just a guess is insanity your main gyro driver?

Those things have a crazy late turn, very cool though. I used to use a 161 Orc for that slot.

Not sure I could keep an Insanity flat long enough to get it to 350'. My experience is with Inertia, Wave, Crave - and older flat Photons. I release all of these hyzer and always finish right. It's a combination of factors from how I grip to where I grip to spin rate vs. speed rate (I throw with a high rate of speed - but a low rate of spin). I've tried changing grips and increasing spin - but it's generally been inconsistent or a total wash. Its a non-issue on short courses - but on bomber holes - I'm limited in what I can do.

I've got a 164 wt proton crave that I'm getting better results out of. I'm looking forward to the upcoming fairway releases. Maybe one will be more teebird. Servo / Crave have too much turn.

I picked up some Proton Waves (164 wt) that still result in the turnover finish. I picked up some Proton Defys (164 wt) that are just too overstable to get the distance. I really need to try the Trace for my distance spot.

If I were to go back to Innova - I'd probably use an Orc / Starfire / Teebird setup. And don't think I haven't debated a mixed bag. :D

I'm old - so it flies like a Teebird Special Edition. :p

I had a ton of those. Funny - never bought the TL.

I find both Servo and Crave to both be TL-like.

Yeah I've gone back and forth on those for my fw drivers. The beefier Servos are Eagle ish but the flippier ones are like ELs. It's splitting hairs with those.

Damn man you got me on that one... Trace is supposed to be between a photon and wave.. I don't know if you only do 165 ish.. Tesla has a nice hookup but it's probably more of the same..

Mayhem?

Trace also has a ton of glide and reminds me of those old pearly Orcs. Though i guess mine could be an outlier being its a barstamp FR mixed blend. From a distance it looks like a neutron but up close you can definitely see it has some proton in it also and can almost see through the plate.

Like this one but mine is pink...

My dad surprised me with a couple of discs and got me a DD Raider based on the suggestion of the person working at the local shop. While I really like the flight of it, I'm hoping to find a MVP equivalent. I haven't thrown too many of the fast drivers, but would a Panic or Nitro be similar?

Nitros are very beefy. Almost too beefy unless you have at least 450ft of power or throw hard flex lines with a FH.

Never thrown a panic

Mayhem or Octane. Hands down the closest.

The new Proton Mayhem are sexxxy looking and the grip is top notch.

I threw mayhems and octanes since their release. They're the same speed and similar hand feel as the Raider.

I actually dropped the gyro for the Raiders.

I remember them being quite beefy (I threw them when they first came out), but from the sound of it, that's a little too much disc for what I'm looking for. Thanks for the input!

I have a few Mayhem's and they're significantly more US than the Raider. I remember the Octane being a little bit too stable for the slot I was trying to get, so I might pick up one of them to try.

Might want to wait a bit if you can. There are a couple new discs that have been approved that might fill this slot. The MVP Beam(2.3mm rim and is the new GYRO-X...whatever the hell that means lol) and the Streamline Engine(2.4mm) are both in that speed range more or less... though I'm not sure either has had flight rating numbers released for them yet.

I watched that in the bag, wondering if I should carry a vanish next to the trace. I'm making at 390-400 these days

Its a great roller disc. Unlike the Orbital, it has a normal shaped wing, so its more forgiving on the initial touch down. It also does the sweeping hyzer line really well with the proper hyzer release angle and if you need a good anhyzer distance driver, it definitely fits the role.

I couldn't keep one in my bag. It's one of those discs i just kept losing for some reason.
