1. PAFrolfer (eeeek) obviously has a negative agenda towards Flip. He gives this away by mentioning at least a few times the same tin hat conspiracy about Flips possible "fake" reviews. Timg settled this birther myth a while back. Just cause a local yokle puts up a three sentence review does not make it fake.
What negative agenda do I have towards Flip City? My supposed positive bias towards Highbridge? I am from PA. I was just stating that Flip City has a lot of one liner reviews that certainly seem to be fake.
2. A 3 star rating towards Flip is an idiotic rating. Period. But what can one expect out of 80 plus reviews. We all have the right to our own opinion, but there are sometimes when you can clearly state something is dumb and be right...and this is that time.
LOL - I thought I was entitled to my own opinion? I guess not?
3. Having "umptine" friends (including tourney level pros) that have played both amazing courses (make that three if we re-include Idlewild) NONE of these courses should EVER rate below a four. EVER.
I'd love to teach you statistics (ie, having umptine friends certainly makes something statistically significant) but I feel that would be a waste of time....
4. Flip not a tourney course is complete rubbish and shows ignorance towards our great game. Last year the hot tourney round was a -10 for 24 holes. That was by Liz Carr who beat out Geoff Bennett (male pro) for that distinction. -10 for 24 holes, think about it. That's a pro tourney score/challenge. Long distances do not equate to tourney caliber in every case.
I don't get it - negative ten for 24 holes is good or bad? If someone can shot a 62 for 24 holes, that's a challenge? I just witnessed an easy tournament in Illinois where the winner of the pro division shot 105 for 40 holes (-15 under) on what is known to be a very easy course. The winner of the advanced division shot the same score. Negative 10 for 24 holes screams easy to me....
6. This thread...dumb on many levels. Including me wasting all this time putting a few thoughts in a numbers format.
Then please refrain from discussing this anymore :|
PA Frolfer r u a PA resident...if so what courses have u played there?
Actually I just moved here for work - haven't got a chance to play too much, but I have played Knob Hill and Ashtabula. Wasn't impressed with either, especially with the high ratings Knob Hill gets. What else would you suggest playing near the Erie area? (I know, there's not much in Erie...it sucks)
I don't care what I sound like, its the truth. To me the pictures of Highbridge hurt the courses, for how good the reviews are. It's not going to stop me from playing Highbridge in the next couple years though. Then I will rate it with a non-bias opinion, based on the same scale I use for every course i've played.
Wait, what? The pictures hurt the Highbridge courses? Is this a joke??!! Since when should the pictures of ANY course determine ratings? That's like saying the pictures of Pebble Beach golf course don't do justice to the course. Of course they don't. Pictures are what they are - pictures. Judging anything based on pictures is crazy. I for one am glad we have people like you to review courses on DG Course Review based on pictures. Thanks!
