They are more stable. The one I had was a turd of a disc, no glide whatsoever and not stable enough to hold up to headwinds. It flew like a really crappy Teebird. The Pro FL is a much better disc.
Agree. Do you have any of the "no time" stamped ones w/ flight numbers and pat #s? I think they are from the same run as the PFN 12x ones. Both great discs, but definitely not flat.
Destroyers have very thin flightplates, that is probably why they warped so easily. Turn them over and pour some hot water in. Repeat the process until it evens out.
FL is a turd of a disc. Stick with the Teebird and get yourself a proper Firebird for when the wind blows or you need a stronger fade. I'd stick with Star or a somewhat domey champ(PFN 12x fit the bill nicely) which are more useful than the board flat ones which are massively overstable.
The more recent 12x runs in Jolly Launcher don't seem to be molding up FAF like the older pearly ones. They are still OS, but not stupid OS like the stiff FAF ones.
Pro Destroyer or G* is what you are looking for. Or the first runs of Avery stamped ones(two lines, not three) that are flat and gummy and 170ish. Or a *D if you have the coin.
Flat and low PLH is the key. Domey Destroyers of any kind tend to be overstable.
I'm surprised at the lack of suggestions for an Orc. At the distances your throwing your Valk at, an Orc would be a nice faster, more stable compliment and should hold up well into a headwind. A PD is also a great choice.
The stock stamped FRs I've seen look awfully tasty. Plastic looks like the same pearly blend used in the big bee/big Z ones which I love. Great plastic. Can't wait to try one of these!
Same here, my first disc was a San Marino P&A Aviar bought in 2006. I bought it because it had a basket on the front! That disc is now totally thrashed and it's one of my favorite discs and still in the bag to this day. Can't beat it for jump putts and short dogleg rights.
Besides for Star Destroyers and baseline putters, my bag is usually filled with champ/Z plastic. I especially like the older pearly and gummy champ. I would argue that it is the best plastic ever made. Some of the older Star and more recent champystar blends are tasty too. The old blood red...
Those who are saying their FBs are longer than a Banshee must not be throwing the FAF 12x champs. Those things are so massively OS and glideless they are essentially a fast mid. I much prefer the PFN 12x ones which are a bit domier and kinda gummy.
I think you will enjoy flicking a Zone...
I'm not either, I was just impressed by the distance potential of flat top Rocs. I could never top 500' with high speed drivers. Right now I max out about the same as you
Rains, that review makes me want to get a Buzzz OS...pronto. It sounds perfect.
