List your top 5 favorite courses

Cedar Hill is in Nashville. Cedar Hills is in Raleigh. Not trolling, just there is no comparison between the really fun Cedar Hill in Nashville and the meh Cedar Hills in Raleigh. Now I might be jaded since I only played Cedar Hill twice and I've played Cedar Hills over 2000 times. Oh and I think Langley Pond is actually in SC.

Apologies. I played Cedar Hill in Nashville and have never played Cedar Hills in Raleigh (despite being much closer to me in the North Charlotte area, lol).

No worries. I traveled to Nashville for my sons hockey tournament and played Cedar Hill mostly because it has basically the same name as my home course Cedar Hills and was pleasantly surprised how nice Hill was.

Cedar Hills in Raleigh is not a bad course just nothing special other than being the 3rd or 4th oldest in the state.

Wells Branch (Austin, TX) - first home course
Rollin Ridge (Reedsville, WI)
Inverness DGP (Hoover, AL)
New World (Jacksonville, FL)
Tom Brown (Tallahassee, FL)

Cedar was better imo before the storm forced the redesign- that was probably in something like 97. The older course was shorter but had better shot variety and was much more picturesque. Some great players came out of Raleigh back then.

My Most Recent Fab Five:

Flip City, Shelby, Michigan

Beaver Ranch - Conifer, Colorado

Whistler's Bend - Roseburg, Oregon

Hillcrest - Prince Edward Island

Riverside Park - St. Cloud, Minnesota

Idlewild (has slipped over the years but the upgrades brought in for the DGPT last summer keep this at the top for me)
Harmon Hills
Hornings Hideout
Panther Creek (TN)
Langley Pond

Usual suspects, yes. But that awesome Panther Creek though! It's a must-add to any Harmon Hills trip (maybe 45 minutes away).

Rockness Monster - Roxboro, NC (easily my favorite)
Creekside Park - Archdale, NC (not top 5 in quality, but my favorite local course)
Richmond Hill - Asheville, NC
Cedar Hill - Nashville, TN
Sharp Springs Park - Smyrna, TN

In no particular order

Wild Haven (Manton, MI...for the whole package: 2 x great 18's on site, camping, night play, partying)
Flip City (Shelby, MI)
IDGC - WR Jackson Memorial DG (Appling, GA)
DeLaveaga Park (Santa Cruz, CA...Haven't played it since '99 though)
Circle R - Rolling Meadow DGC (Wimberley, TX...RIP)

Black Falls DGC, Montgomery, VT
Moraine SP, Portersville, PA
Black Jack DGC, Sugar Grove, NC
Langley Pond DGP, Burnettown, SC
Smugglers Notch, Jeffersonville, VT

Rockness Monster - Roxboro, NC (easily my favorite)
Creekside Park - Archdale, NC (not top 5 in quality, but my favorite local course)
Richmond Hill - Asheville, NC
Cedar Hill - Nashville, TN
Sharp Springs Park - Smyrna, TN

I really should put Rockness #1 on my list too because I always have a great (and exhausting) time when I'm there. It is easily my favorite course within 3 hours.

1. The Toboggan

2. Milo McIver/Riverbend DGC

3. Camden 2

4. Valley View (Central Indiana)

5. Sharktooth Mountain (Bakersfield, CA)

I have recently played a bunch of decent courses.:|

Here is my current list...

Flip City, Shelby, MI

Honorable Mention:
Flyboy
Selah Ranch Creekside

Moose Pretzel (AK)

1. Beaver Ranch - Conifer, Co
2. Brooktrails - Willits, Ca

2018 update for my 5 favorites... not best, the one's I like to play.

Lake Claiborne State Park - Whitetail near Homer LA
Lindsey Park - Gold Course (Dogwood) Tyler TX
Coleman Park in Brownfield TX
Comanche Trail Park - Mountain in Big Spring TX
William Cameron Park in Waco TX

All of them are fun and interesting in their own way.

In no particular order:

Rosedale Park - Up Top (Kansas City, KS)
Joe Eakes Park (Kure Beach, NC)
Buckhorn (New Hill, NC)
Water Works (Kansas City, MO)
East Carolina University (Greenville, NC)

Not necessarily the best 5 courses I have every played, but all have a little something extra that clicked with me. For example, Castle Hayne seems to get all the love in the Wilmington area. I didn't find anything about it particularly interesting or different than many of the other wooded NC courses. Then I played Joe Eakes Park and it was unlike any place I had played before. Obviously it doesn't provide the level of difficulty as Castle Hayne, but I'm not trying to play every round at a championship-level course.

speaking of Alaska, it looks like only DonnyO has played more courses there than you (by 2)
and you probably also win a prize for most courses played on a military base
