Am Worlds 2012--Charlotte, NC

i plan on playing in it, if i can get in the selinske that will be 2 majors for me next year...

Here in Rochester we had room for 720 ams, expected 600, and got 454. I guess because we're 'not a central location' which seems bogus to me since a flight is a flight. Pros in Cali had a cap this year and filled.

Anyway, I don't plan on getting an invite with the 14 points I'll earn this year.... is there a player cap for Ams (or Pros) in Charlotte?

Invites get a head start on registration. After a certain date its open to anyone who wants to pay for it.

Sam Nicholson, Sam Nicholson, Sam Nicholson.... I have the memory of a Senior Grandmaster.

This local thinks it will! Remember it is a joint Pro/AM. I also think it will be the largest to date.

last pro/am worlds was the record holder in iowa. it could get close to filling. i know more people are talking about going locally then there were when worlds was in milwaukee. (thats an hr away) so theres alot more hype for this worlds

Since I couldn't play this year, I started saving for next year last month :). I know a course I'm definitely going to hit while in town too :D

The area is solid, and they have Jack in the Box! The courses I got to play while in town were amazing: Renny, Nevin and Hornets Nest. By that time I will be able to hold some chance of cashing too... maybe?

Good luck to everyone playing, you're going to need it. :D

I might have to volunteer so I can help all my out of state DGCR brothers feel welcome. :)

we will need all the help we can get volunteer wise. courses are almost set by the way. Really can't announce with 100% confidence yet. we have to run thru pdga. They have our suggestion and we will be talking to them after pro worlds. i will let you know as soon as it is confirmed.

I'm stoked about the 2012 worlds, since it's only 1.5 hours away from me. I've gotten an invite to the Worlds the last 5 or 6 years or so, so I'm hoping it will happen again this year (for 2012). I may have to play CAC this coming April so I will have a "heads up" as to what courses the Adv. Masters will be playing.
I really do think that this worlds will be close to selling out since it is Pro/Am, and this region has a HUGE amount of Disc Golfers

Speaking of Advanced Masters, I get to start playing in that division in January! Looking forward to Worlds in my front yard. Literally in my front yard, as I live across the street from 36 lovely wooded holes that will be used.:)

We have studied the attendance for past worlds and some preliminary math indicates that we will almost certainly cap the amateur mens field at 288 and amateur masters men at 144.

But like Bill stated earlier, we have done a lot of math and cyphering but it will be after all Worlds 2011 dust has settled that we will have some sit down talks with the PDGA and then make public what the courses and formats will be.

Stan, I hope that the CAC will use the same courses as what divisions will play at worlds. It would be great to get a look at what we will be playing in advance.

Stan...what are the caps on Junior Divisions? I know my boys will be 6 and 8 and wold love to play. I plan on taking that week off of work no matter and spending that week in the Queen City.

I watched some of the footage on the AM worlds. From what I have seen so far, the level of competition is pathetic.

im a bit surprised myself. the courses look tough but not that tough. theres only 6 people really playing well. could be though that alot of the top ADV players have moved to PRO. it would make sense with the econ. if you can make some money back you might as well.

Tons of new players in the game; think they're great (*said like Tony the Tiger*).

Long story short; from a two decade player: Those who are top advanced get called sand bagger; sooner, rather than later.

Said players move up to pro; donate their money for a little while (unless they are truly among those top 100 best players), and quit playing tourneys.

Result; veteran advanced players rarely exist, unless they move into age related divisions.
