What Happened To Scott Stokely?

It's still possible that he'll bring in molds from DC, right? Just because he has one company doing the molding for him, that doesn't exclude others?

I'm sure he technically can throw whatever he wants.

It just sounded like his closest ally at Discraft isn't there any longer. So I'm not sure how keen they would be to do any special/unique runs for him at this point.

DC will make a run for anyone, I believe. You just have to order 500 of them, or something. And they run old molds for DGA. I think it's a possibility, although I have no idea if Scott would want to do that, or if there are other issues with it.

But we can't deny that the market is out there - plenty of 15 year old "thumbers" that will proudly display their KGB and White Widow on the dash of their car. And even though "We" aren't the "target demographic" "we" are still purchasing and wiping the stamps because it's a new toy that we just can't help but want to feel up.

Let's not bring Thumbers into this.

Stokely is registered to play in Rocky Mount, NC this weekend. Facebook chatter said he was in town playing some today. Guess I'll have to circle by the FlyMart to check out these discs.

The reaction on this site would surprise me if I hadn't been around here for years. Scott seems to be more in touch with the average player, like it or not, than the average DGCR member. it's the same expected treatment of the average player. Derision and scorn.
I'll still carry Stealie dyes and dancing bear dyes and go low key.
The funny thing is that most of the folks talking shyte still want to buy the discs and try them, only with the stamps wiped. And who is the addict? LOL!

I had the opportunity to watch him in the '90s at a couple of Great Lakes Opens near Ann Arbor (and have the VHS footage in the basement here somewhere). He was a blast to watch! I'll never forget him taking out a Magnet and throwing it 50+ feet past a 350' hole. I'd never seen someone throw a putter like that before him.

Who cares? What happened to ATLScott?

Likely, life.
There are a ton of folks who don't post anymore who weren't banned. (and If my experience on other forums is any indicator, likely still do under another name) Where's Frank? (3

1. the stork is a beast I'm happy to see him back.
2. dg is a green sport. DGCR/DGR is the clan of basement trolls (myself included)
3. lurking from a mobile device prevents posting (I don't have the texting speed of a 13 year old girl).

I'm not saying there isn't some market necesaarily, or that I give two ****s what people write on their discs, ör that there aren't a bunch of loadies playing at your local course. I'm saying I think the names are stupid, and the marketing approach is stupid. People extrapolate and get reactionary from that point, and that's cool too. I think the names are dumb, you think they're great? Well bully for you. I can live in a world where your opinion differs from mine without making assumptions or getting upset.

Cheers to you and your stupidly named discs and your skulls and monsters and other things I thought were cool when I was in 10th grade. :)

The way your throwing a tantrum makes it seem like you're still in high school. We get that you don't like the names. See you in another thread.:\

AFAIK, there is only one Stork in disc golf and that is Dan "Stork" Roddick PDGA #0003 from Pasadena, CA. Stork is still playing in PDGA events.http://www.pdga.com/player/3

Buy his discs so he can turn around and use your money to buy himself drugs to feed his addiction. :p

I guess I heard wrong. Calling Stokely "stork" makes sense. He's like 6'8" and the name Stokely easily morphs into stork.

Either way I'm happy to see him back in the game.

consecutive post (sorry): watched the vid of him talking about his life etc. and was really intrigued about his thoughts on discs. I like sticky feeling discs as well. I take it Gateway is molding discs for him. I wonder what he meant by Gateway making things safer. I wonder if there is a big backlash coming from the incident in California.

That "safer" comment caught my attention too. Interesting.
